Almost convinced to cook

Ok you guys got me. After a couple weeks of reading posts almost all day every day (at least at work), I think I'm convinced to unlock my phone and cook a rom. Was nervous cause i've only had my phone for a couple weeks, but sounds awesome. Just had a few questions though mainly to confirm mixed thoughts.

I was thinking of going with a stable rom like No2Chem 5060 cooked in PPCKitchen. Any advice? I was looking for a thread that kinda gives a summary of the roms out there and links to get them, but no such luck. If there IS, can someone point me to the right direction please?

ALSO, now what happens when I do a Hard Reset with the custom rom on there? What ROM does it go to? Cause If I do it now it will go to 1.0* I think.

Thanks in advance. I've learned SO much from you guys and think all you guys are doing some pretty awesome sh** for everybody. =D>

Re: Almost convinced to cook

I cooked mine the second day. I was scared too. But everything went fine.

I now have the cooked version of the latest leaked version.

Re: Almost convinced to cook

Best advice i can give is to use PPCkitchen and use 5060. Flash the official sprint rom (don't let it customize unless you're sprint) first though so you get the radio update.

Read the guide Nickle wrote i have in my sig. It's what convinced me to jump into my own flash.

That is also a good thread to read if you've not seen it.

Re: Almost convinced to cook

When you hard reset it start the current ROM just like the first time you started it. It will delete all applications and data from system memory. So be prepared to restore your apps and contacts.

Re: Almost convinced to cook

Honestly if you've read that you're pretty good to go. I didn't feel like i was either, but afterwards i was like... oh. Gotcha. Really the BIG part is following the rules that HardSPL gives you. Once the boot loader is installed right you're good to go.

Re: Almost convinced to cook

Good luck...just remember to go slowly the first time and think about what you are doing. Mostly, if you are on Verizon, when you flash the sprint rom for the radio, and the screen says tap here, DONT and plug it back in and flash another ROM, otherwise, enjoy.

Re: Almost convinced to cook

Installed the "leaked" Sprint 6.1 rom and everything is ok but been looking at cooking a rom.

My only problem is all the options you are given when making your rom. I don't have a clue what most of the options do. Need a guide to what options to pick

Re: Almost convinced to cook

Wohoo!! Sucessful! Got a lil nervous before the hard reset when it locked up. I went with No2Chem 5060 for now...added a few things from the PPCKitchen. Finally got WM 6.1 with Threaded SMS and better performance. Thanks again for all the help. This place never ceases to amaze me!
