Alltel or Sprint?

Hey I'm new here and I've been reading on the forums for a little under a week now. I understand how to flash and everything but I do have a question.

I have a stock Alltel PPC 6800 and one of the things I would like to have is the GPS

Would it be better to first flash to the stock Sprint ROM for the radio and then a Kitchen; or would it be better to Flash the new Alltel ROM and then Kitchen? Would the Kitchen ROM have the dlls needed for the GPS?

(Also, this really is not important, I'm just curious. Can I relock my Alltel device with Coke's relocker posted here? Or is there an Alltel relocker. Because as far as I know the one posted is from a Sprint device. Is it the same no matter what carrier?)

Thanks in advance, I look forward to upgrading my phone.

Re: Alltel or Sprint?

Sprint or alltel its the same device with the same hardware only differance would be carrier logos. Use the kitchen and youll be just fine, happy cooking.
p.s. the relocker will be ok as well.

Re: Alltel or Sprint?

Can you give me some examples of why and when you would need to re-lock a phone?

Go ahead and Flash the Alltel ROM 1st... You can bypas the Sprint version, it's radio version is slightly older..... DO NOT let the customizations run.... Now you can flash the kitchen ROM, and yes the kitchen ROM has the dll's needed for GPS..... Enjoy your new phone....

if you need to take your phone into your carriers store to be "fixed" or inspected, then you would relock the phone and flash the original ROM back on it before you took it in.....

Re: Alltel or Sprint?

I have re-locked my phone and put the stock ROM on my xv6800. Now thats not to say that "bits" and "pieces" of the GPS radio were not still in the phone, but the phone worked just like it did before I upgraded it.... I went from 3.27 to 1.30 by flashing the 2.09 stock ROM... worked great.... then i sent the phone back to verizon because the USB port wouldn't sync....
