Re: ALLTEL ROM 3.35.671.9 on HTC's site now

Okay, here it is, the cab file that will hopefully enable GPS in the stock ROM.

http://rapidshare.com/files/10991132...Titan_3.35.cab

The files are signed with a developer certificate so you will probably need to turn security off before they'll work correctly. I found a file to do that here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330291

You will probably need to do a soft reset after installing.
Let me know how it works out!

note: if you are having trouble upgrading the radio because of olipro 2.40 being installed, use the SD card method.

Well I installed your CAB which didn't give me any issue about security or unlocking the phone. I then turned the phone off and powered it back on again, and tried enabling the GPS in Google Maps and it gives me the "No GPS receiver was found" message. With GPS enabled should I see a place to configure it somewhere in the system menu?

I could be wrong, but I don't think you'd get an error message if there's a security problem, the driver just wouldn't load.
Also, did you try pressing the reset button on the bottom?
I would try that first, and if it still doesn't work, try turning off security and then pressing reset.

You shouldn't be getting the "No GPS Receiver Was Found" message if it works.

Ok. I installed that 3 step security patch from XDA, reset, and then reinstalled the CAB you provided, and then reset again. I'm not doing a soft-reset using the button on the bottom of the phone. I'm instead powering down the phone normally and turning it back on again. Should be the same thing, if not better.

I now have different results. Google Maps *now* does not give the GPS Not Found error, and instead says "Seeing GPS Satellites (0)" but never finds any, and then shows this error: "Your GPS receiver is having trouble tracking GPS satellites".

I think we're getting closer! How can I insure the GPS is configured properly?

Re: ALLTEL ROM 3.35.671.9 on HTC's site now

If you mean pressing and holding POWER until the message pops up and pressing YES, that should be as good as pressing RESET.

Sounds like we're getting somewhere! In the GPS Settings, the first tab "Program", the "GPS program port" should be COM4. You shouldn't have to touch the other settings.

It takes some time, sometimes up to 10-minutes for the phone to lock onto satellites.

That's exactly what I meant.

I have verified the GPS Settings, the Port being COM4. I've also enabled the Location service per the instructions I found on this post:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ight=gps+guide

I might take it out in the car for a bit now to get away from the house and see if it locks on anything. 10 Minutes, though, that's kinda ****ty, eh?

Re: ALLTEL ROM 3.35.671.9 on HTC's site now

This is interesting to me, however being new to the PPC world I am a bit confused. I have an Alltel phone HTC PPC6800 as we all know. I am wondering a few things. I bought my phone a couple weeks ago and this is the information from my "Device Information"

ROM Version: 2.14.671
ROM Date: 08/20/07
Radio Version: 1.40.00

Now, from the looks of things here that is an extremely old set of files. I seen the new Alltel flash at the beginning of this thread but I want to make sure I have this right.

Do I need to unlock my phone?
If so whats the best method?

Do I just install this new Alltel Flash and run with it?

After I flash the Alltel ROM do I then do something additional in order to get the GPS working?

What does everyone suggest?

Thanks a million and I love the site by the way!!!!!
