Why does battery status show 300MHz on a 400MHz phone?

Title pretty much says it all -- the Battery Status today plugin shows 300MHz as the processor speed but a Mogul/Titan has a 400MHz processor in it.

Is there a way to tell what speed the device is really running at?

Do performance add-ins like "HTC performance" or "Oxios" affect it and underclock?

If so, shouldn't you see the number bounce up under heavy load like watching video? I never see anything but 300MHz in the screen.

I've been in software for 20 years and I still can't see how you've done it.

Ive heard that its reading cpu speed in metric standard, hence the difference in speed.

Justpctech -- I'm laughing, I think, please tell me you meant that as a joke? Any real thoughts on the weird read? Do you think battery status just has a bug or is there another way to know for sure what speed it is really running at?

I'm pretty sure it idles at 300mhz, and peaks at 400 when needed.

Re: Why does battery status show 300MHz on a 400MHz phone?

Wouldn't you think the number would change under heavy load in the speed monitor? I kind of like "battery status" in the latest kitchen -- it is handy software, but I suspect this part of it is broken.

yeah I was about to say the same thing! Though I could boot up it only sorta worked.

All I needed was an easy to read battery meter so now I use the Vista Battery and it takes less room!
