No, QPST only backs up the network/phone information, it doesn't backup the ROM.

Your old phone probably isn't bricked and can still be used. If you run into problems check out the chat room, someone there can help you get through it.

SpbBackup backs up the the rom as well. I was talked about in one of these treads. thats why I was wondering if anyone can make a backup using spb backup.

Actually SPB doesn't work that way. It copies all the files, but not in a way that you could restore and have an "upgraded" rom. It's designed to let you backup your phone, install a new rom, and then restore and all of your apps and data should be restored.

Thats good to know. Thanks for the info and instructions but I think if I were to find and download those apps/roms I would probably brick this phone even though I want the gps enabled so baddly.

Is there anyone in the chicago land area that reads this thread. I can working something out with them if they are willing to perform this update.

Any way you can put a package together with rom files and apps that is pre configured. I can give you a link to my online storage where you can upload it and I can download it.

I'm not meaning to be a PITA but there's thousands of people on here that have done this upgrade without problems following the provided instructions. Even if someone sends you the files, you are still going to have to go through the same process of upgrading. Have you tried flashing again, and then jumping into one of the chat's if you have problems?

Outback is right. Without the pre-install steps, a completely configured rom still isnt going to help. You have to back up your phones programming, flash the SPL, radio and then flash the rom. Then restore your phone's programming.

All of the Wiki's will work for USCC, but I highly recommend using QPST to read and write the phones programming before and after flashing. Otherwise you have to reprogram your EPST info before the phone will work. If you use QPST then there is only 2 things in EPST that have to be fixed and thats to get EVDO working again after the flash.

The Altel aGPS post has complete instructions on how to read and write using QPST, then just follow any of the Wiki guides on here of how to program the phone and then ask here and I'll give you the info on how to restore EVDO.

It's not difficult to do, just make a checklist and go thru each step one after the other. If you get stuck come here for advice, I'm sure one of us can help you past which ever point you are stuck at.

In fact if you want, post your checklist here first and we can review it and make sure you aren't missing something. It will be helpful for the next person too.

First off thanks to everyone who has posted in this thread. I was able to flash my phone without issue which only took two attempts! I do have a few questions if someone has time to answer. I really haven't looked outside of this topic so if the answers are elsewhere in the forum I apologize.

First I couldn't find Titan_No2Chem_5060_WM6.1 it wasn't listed in BuildOS. I ended up using WM6.1_96DPI_QVGA_20755_0409.

Is the No2Chem build faster? The phone now seems slow at times and the only problem I have is that I can no longer connect to wifi and both yahoo and live messenger say that my account isn't valid. I do have data access and I verified that all the M.IP and M.IP defaul settings are correct.

Last question is how do I update to a newer virsion of ROM for the radio? The file format is .nbh so I'm guessing there is a loader that I need? I just found the answer for this one. Trying it now.

Almost forgot, I have seen references to DCD ROMS. What is the difference?

I personally think DCD's are a little better because of the fact they are extremely clean. No extra software, just what you need to make the phone work. You can then custom install whatever apps you have via .cab files.

His previous version 3.2.6 has a kitchen that you can also use to customize the phone if you like. His latest tho 3.3.4 has no kitchen, so you have to flash it and then load everything via .cab files.

Not all of the OEM files from PPCGeeks work tho, so you will have to trial and error them to get the ones you want. Anything that doesn't work, there most likely is a version in .cab format tho that you can use.

I like No2Chem's roms too, don't get me wrong, but he makes some major changes to the OS and while most are for the best, I tend to think his roms run a bit slower, tho have more memory available on them.

So if speed is your preference, use DCD's, if you need a lot more memory, then No2Chem's with the camera disabled gives you the absolute most memory available of any rom.

DCD's are extremely stable as well, especially if you can get by with only installing the apps you absolutely must have, leaving it minimally loaded can let me phone run for weeks without needing a restart. No2Chem's and DCD's that are loaded down with a ton of programs tend to need a reboot every day or two.

Just my opinion, I'm sure other's will disagree, but I've done a lot of flashing trying to find a stable phone, and I keep going back to DCD's roms.
