Question How do you change statup animation on ppckitchen?

I am trying to build a ROM based on no2 5060 base and I select 'Startup Animation (NOT for Apache)' which says '...WMStartup_ani.gif can be added to your patches folder to replace the default animation.' when you hover over it. Where is this patches folder it is referring to? No matter what I have tried thus far, I still end up with the default Windows Vista startup animation. I can change it after I flash the phone but I want it cooked in.

WMStartup_ani.gif is in C:\Program Files\PPCkitchen.org\BuildOS\Animations\240x320. If you replace it there before you build the kitchen, that should work.

Thanks for the suggestion JimSmith94. I have tried that a couple of times now but it still seems to somehow still include the default one (Windows Vista). I will go ahead and cook up another ROM and test it again since I completely removed and reinstalled the kitchen and see what I get. I will post back.

Re: How do you change statup animation on ppckitchen?

Best way right now is to include a file called WMStartup_ani.gif in a personal OEM. You will probably get an overwrite warning, but at least you know it is being included. You can use OEMizer to create a simple OEM for this.

Yes, that is the one I am talking about. Unfortunately, renaming the file that I wanted to use to WMStartup_ani.gif under C:\Program Files\PPCkitchen.org\BuildOS\Animations\240x320 (replacing the existing one) did not work. I still have the Vista startup animation.

I may just try to pull dcd's OEM_HTC_StartupAnimation_1_0_814_719 out of his 3.0.1 kitchen, edit it a bit, and place it in the kitchen to see if that works based on colonel's suggestion.

One thing I do notice as I am building ROMs using the ppckitchen... when it is building the ROM it prompts me (2-3 times) with messages like the ones below:

WARNING: C:\Documents and Settings\David\Application Data\hIq Inc\PPC-BuildOS\9.05.2.6Temp\temp\dump\Windows Mobile 6.1.tsk being overwritten by kitchens\PPCGeeks_OEM.rar::6.1 Graphics
WARNING: C:\Documents and Settings\David\Application Data\hIq Inc\PPC-BuildOS\9.05.2.6Temp\temp\dump\wm61_stwater.jpg being overwritten by kitchens\PPCGeeks_OEM.rar::6.1 Graphics

I have always answered 'Yes' to these prompts but I am wondering if I should be answering 'No' instead?

Re: How do you change statup animation on ppckitchen?

I tried to add the OEM from dcd's kitchen and it showed up, compiled fine, but it did not work. I still ended up with the default Vista startup animation. I did say 'Yes' for both prompts during the building stage of the kitchen though. Maybe later I will try again and say 'No' for those prompts.

Let me take this opportunity to make a request for the next update to the kitchen. Please add a fourth column at the top of the kitchen to choose your startup animation in the same fashion that you can choose your splash screens.

Re: How do you change statup animation on ppckitchen?

So I answered 'No' this time without success. However, I understand where the prompts were coming from now after taking a closer look at the log... I selected '6.1 Graphincs' from the Theme category and apparently I do not need to because the graphics must already be included in the 5060 base. Has anyone been able to do this successfully? If so, please post how you accomplished it.

Re: How do you change statup animation on ppckitchen?

k, first, the 6.1 graphics will prompt an overwrite warning on two files. that is fine. However, you do need to select 6.1 graphics if you want them to show up properly.

Now, the animation image is not in the theme OEM. It is in the Startup Animation OEM. If you will reread my instructions, I said all you need to do is create a personal OEM for yourself and put it in User_OEM. Then just put that .gif you want int here and it should overwrite the one in the Startup animation OEM.

Thanks for the clarification on the 6.1 Graphics option. I am also happy to announce that the startup animation changed after creating a OEM in OEMizer as you suggested originally. I guess I thought that if dcd's OEM for the same purpose did not work, that one I created would not either...I was wrong. I appreciate your help colonel.

Hopefully, in a future release of the kitchen, there will be a new option to change the startup animation in a similar manor that you can now change the splash screens.
