Have now cooked and burned at least a dozen ROMS from the PPC Kitchen with Vista with UAC active. Vista Ultimate SP1, Vista Home Premium SP1 and non SP1 work without a problem.

I did try unlocking to the 2.40 Olipro in Vista and the one thing which did not work was that after the ROM was flashed, I could not run the program to exit the tri-color screen. I tried to uncheck the box in connection settings to allow USB, but when I ran the program it complained about not being able to open the USB port -- can someone tell me a solution to this one? I had to boot into XP and run it there which was a pain.

hi. I have Verizon XV6800
i just downloaded teh mew kitchen update and have two questions...
1. the first post says that i need to update to 3.35 radio rom before using the kitchen.. but i tried to flas it but it says
ERROR [382]: INVALID COMAND
THIS UPDAT UTILITY CAN NO BE USED FOR YOUR PHONE CHECK YOUR UPDATE UTILITY..

2. When i ran build os using no2chem 5060..
durring build process.. after all the scanning of the OEMs.. i get an error message saying : Kitchen/PPCgeeks_OEM.rar file creation error

what should i do?

For some things like exit bootloader and mtty you'll have to switch the Microsoft USB Sync in device manager to older drivers, then back again when you're done.

1. Before it says to update the radio, it also says your phone must be unlocked. It sounds like you've skipped that step. You'll need to unlock with Olipro 2.40.

2. You may have a bad download of the rar. You can download manually from http://ppckitchenl.org/downloads and check the file size when it's done.

my phone is unlocked.. i am already using dcd's kitchen 3.01
and the file size for the oem package matches .. are there any other explanation for this problem?

i had a issue with the touch keyboard as well...so i dropped it from my build...my issue was it worked fine for onscreen...but when i slide open the mogul half my buttons wouldnt work anymore...and x19 kept popiing up on the top task bar..no matter how many times i switched it to abc..or ven tried selecting the mogul sock keyboard..my actual hard keyboard was no go on like a button and a few others..i rebuilt leaving touch keyboard out everything worked fine..any ideas?

This works just fine as long as you are running the program as Administrator. What this means isn't running as one that has those rights but in Vista this is a special role - if you right click on the program shortcut or icon you will see a selection Run as Administrator. To ensure you don't forget right-click your shortcut and go to properties. Select the compatibility tab and if you have UAC active and your user has the rights to Run as Administrator you will be able to select this option under Privilege Level so anytime you run that program it will automatically select that mode. If a program gets launched from within another running in that state it should inherit whatever stated the previous one was in. That said you can open the BuildOS directory and ensure you flag this option on each .exe so you never have to worry if it continues to cause you issues.

Have you actually tried running the exit screen program this way and does it work? It is true I did not run this as administrator, but the ROM flashed OK, but I canalways run as administrator -- this would mean I could use Vista for everything which would make my life much easier.
