Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM

nick,

Thanks for the how to, i didnt have my phone plugged in the first time i installed it so it didnt ask me to install it. But I am good to go now. Looks like it seems to work so far but i have only tried it a couple times.

Thanks again

EDIT Well after using the Holux GPS Launcher for a few days I am still running into the same problems. Takes for ever for the satellites to sync if they sync at all. There has to be others that are experiencing this problem. PLEASE HELP.

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM

What is the best way to take a stock Verizon XV6800 with radio 2.09 to radio 3.35 and added kitchens? I tried with unlocker 2.4 and it froze, then tried Titan unlocker 1.20 and it froze. Is it possible to take a stock unit and go directly to a new radio and rom or does it have to go step by step from one radio up to the next etc. The unlockers don't seem to work with a radio 2.XX.

Help please.

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM

lienman, i dont believe there should be any conflict updating directly to 3.35. My bootloader froze the first time i downloaded it too. delete/uninstall it from your programs, and redownload it here.
ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/Users/Im...rd-SPL-MFG.exe

You can now flash the Sprint radio 3.35 (it enables RevA and gps). http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...Rev%2A+verizon

Go there and follow the directions exactly as they appear. Make sure that you DO NOT, i repeat, do not, let the customizations run. i did and now im waiting for a new phone from VZW.

After that, flash your favorite flavor ROM. i was using no2chem's, ill have to update when i get the new phone. ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Titan/Users/No2Chem/

What do I have to do to make sure the customizations don't start. Is there a question - like do you want customizations, or do I have to hit a certain button at a certain point?

first boot after a new flash, while booting into windows, it will say 'Customization will start in 3 seconds, press any key' or something like that.
PAY ATTENTION. don't go for coffee, or change your clothes.. if you BLINK , you will miss it... when this window pops up, then immediatley soft reset...

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM

Well, final update: I went through hell to get it, but my phone is finally up and running again. Apparently I only spoke to durtards at Verizon and they never reset my data usage or something like that. I ended up calling Verizon 10 or so times, they directed me to Asurian at one point, who directed me to my local verizon store, who directed me back to the verizon phone number.

Long story somewhat short: they were all idiots and I finally spoke to someone competant to get the data reset.

Word of warning: DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. You will most likely need an A-key in any case, so find what yours is and save it forever.

Re: How to upgrade an xv6800 with the new Sprint ROM

There is a Cab file in Sprint Extended which is

LaunchPPST.cab which resets SPC, MSID and MDN so be carefull not to run Extended ROM of Sprint

Two things. What is a data reset? What exactly does this do?
And i thought if i need another a-key, i cant use the same one. the VZW techs have to generate one especially for your phone number, at least thats my understanding. am i wrong? has anyone used an old a-key?

you can NOT re-use an Akey.. if you happen to be in a position to actually require one, you need VZW to generate a NEW one.
although, the only time i ever needed to call for an Akey was when i updgraded the RADIO.... you never have to do it for a ROM flash.......

same procedure. put phone in bootloader mode, then run the rom update utility to flash the rom you wish to load...
