Help - getting Error 260 - Not a noob

Ok, maybe about this I am a noob. But, on the other hand, I can field-strip, and build from scratch any system you'd like. So, I'm not an idiot. Ok, maybe about this I am.

Sprint Mogul.

When I attempt to run the RUU update utility, with ANYONE's nbh file, the phone eventually swaps to an all grey screen, with an install meter. It sits at 0 for awhile, then the PC's app complains about the error.

When I try to unlock, I get hung on the tri-color screen. When I run Exitbl, or Titan_Exitbl.exe, the system reboot. I have no way of knowing if it did *whatever* it was supposed to do.

I've rebooted my XP laptop and phone any number of times. I've even done a hard reset of the phone to ensure that I didn't have some odd application in the way preventing.

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks!
Pete

What bootloader version are you running? What are the last ROM and radio you were able to successfully install?

The Exitbl files do just that, exits you from the bootloader. If you don't have a working ROM/Radio combination installed, this does nothing for you.

Mr

I am running
ROM 2.09.651.3
Radio: 1.32.00

If I need to be at a newer version - how do I do this? I cannot seem to install the ROMs.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Re: Help - getting Error 260 - Not a noob

- Additional Information -

Ok, here is the process that I follow.

I run Titanunlocker.bat. After following the steps, I hit the tri color screen, that indicates TITAN.

The .bat file indicates the following.

####
Your device should now be in 3 color screen showing the SoftSPL bootloader
####
.
####
You must now disconnect and reconnect the device from your PC
Do not make any other changes at this time, but don't skip this part.
####
.
####
*** Repeat: You MUST disconnect and reconnect the device at this time
####
Press any key to continue . . .

>> I disconnect and reconnect. I pause about 15 seconds and hit the spacebar. The .BAT file proceeds with the following message.

.
.
####
Starting the Rom Upgrade Utility. Please follow the steps on the
RUU to complete the unlocking process. Press enter when complete.

>> The PDA remains on the 3-color screen. On the PC, the 'PDA Phone ROM Update Utility 3.16.4.2' loads. I hit next and the instructions indicate that I must have the phone connected with an ActiveSync connection. Since I am in on the 3-color screen, I don't have an Activesync connection. I assume that this is where I need titan_exitbl.exe.

I go into TaskManager and end Rapimgr, wcescomm, and wcesmgr.

I run Titan_exitbl and I get a pop up saying that data has been sent and the device should boot. The PDA self-reboots.

The PDA boots to my normal OS. (( How do I know my phone is unlocked?! ))

I rerun Activesync and re-establish a connection. I then run the RUU to load the ROM. The screen eventually winds up at a grey screen with a progress bar. After about 3 minutes I get the error that I refer to above.

Again -- any help would be much appreciated.

This part is misleading. You do NOT need an AS connection. Just continue on with the update.

Re: Help - getting Error 260 - Not a noob

I've gotten this error due to two things

1. A firewall
2. A usb issue

I would go with #2. Try a different USB port, disable screensavers/standby, and try again

I've also had success hard-reseting the device first, but try to do above first before getting desperate

I spent one night in your situation. To answer your question about the tri-color screen. YES. You do have to be in the tri-color screen to flash your ROM. The exit booloader is to be used only if your are stuck in the tri-color screen. After several hours of a flashing nightmare, I went to xda and installed olipro's hard spl. Then I went ahead and flashed DCD's(XDA) ROM and Radio. So far its working pretty well. For some reason I still cannot flash any of no2chem's ROM.

Ok, it is working just fine. Gads, someone really ought to correct those instructions. The line that says "you must have an Activesync connection" really threw me. It made me think that, well, I needed an Activesync connection. Thanks to everyone for your help.
