Re: New ROM. Need to call customer service.
Go back to stock to see if you still experience the problem. There is a reason why customer service does not want people to flash to new rows. Theres no telling how many phone calls our carriers had to endured because someone wans to instal a bugged beta version of software.
I am all for customizing a phone, but if you experience issues, you should work them out for yourself, or you should revery back to the previous good rom to see if the rom is the issue, and not the service. Its only fair. |

Re: New ROM. Need to call customer service.
Ummmm isnt that why I pay them alot of money each month? To help figure out problems with my phone? Sure its not stock rom but if they were to release it then we wouldnt be having this problem. I'm sure Tech support has more fun trying to fingure out problems with Roms then having granny call and ask where the power button is.

Re: New ROM. Need to call customer service.
Try hard resetting your phone with the GPS Rom still installed, sometimes a hard reset after completing flashing solves a lot of headaches. Then dont dump tons of software in at once, load them one at a time and see what happens. The evdo issue has been seen by many, give it some time after a hard reset, and if you THENneed to call your carrier, just tell them you hard reset your phone. And NO, they do NOT have to support your phone once you flash a custom Rom.

Re: New ROM. Need to call customer service.
Alltel level-7 tech support won't have a clue what is going on. Imagine you installed Linux on your phone .. would you still expect Alltel to support it? Save yourself the hassle and flash back to stock. It takes less time than you will sit on hold, and you are more likely to get the answer you are looking for.
The reason "official" ROMs are few and far between is because the release must be supported. It requires extensive testing. One overlooked issue can run up millions in damages (fruitless support calls, lost customers, negative brand image, etc). Look around at the latest test release .. some people have no problems, while others are borking their phones. Even 1% failure is not acceptable, so the release is held back until it will work for everyone. BTW, you pay Alltel money each month for the service, not the phone. It is in Alltel's best interest to ensure the phone works as expected with the service, so the phones (hardware & software) they provide are tested and supported. However, if you change the phone (unless instructed to by Alltel or the device manufacturer) the warranty is invalidated. I used to work in tech support for Sprint years ago, and trust me it was much more fun to talk to Grandma than the guy that thinks he knows it all. |

Re: New ROM. Need to call customer service.
I'd say hard reset and wait a few weeks. I had data problems the first week or so, but right around the time my phone started picking up signal right away again is when my data started being stable. Perhaps the new radio overwrites something and the phone has to "relearn" the network or something.
