Re: i WANT 3.16...

If you use the actual leaked Rom, you don't have to do anything special, you just need to run the update just like one you would download off of the HTC site. You only need to unlock your phone if you want to use a custom ROM.

I was scared *&^@# the first time I did an upgrade as well. Let's face it, we've all spent a lot of money on our phones and the last thing we want to do is screw them up. I will say, it's MUCH easier than it would appear. Just follow the instructions and your chances of screwing anything up is very small. Your chance of breaking your phone permanently is like 1 in a million.

If you DO get into trouble, just ask for help. I've found this group of people to be VERY patient and helpful with first-timers. So...get to flashing!

Actually, no. According to kmartburrito when he posted the leaked ROM:

So installing the hard-spl would be a mistake, since it would unlock the phone and cause crashes during install. All that needs to be done is download the leaked ROM and install it if the phone has never had a custom ROM installed and therefore is probably still locked.

As johnnychimpo said, read this post for easy to follow instructions:

http://67.228.199.237/forum.ppcgeeks...60&postcount=1

If you have never installed a custom ROM, skip step 3; in any case skip steps 5 through 7 if you want to run the leaked ROM.

Re: i WANT 3.16...

hmmm seems like i've been doing it all wrong but i've saved lot of time doing it this way.. in the past 2 weeks i've been going back and forth from 2.47 to 3.16 and thats how i do it. no problems at all. and the only time i had to reload my mdn and msid numbers are when i was rolling back. but anyway, that thread is too much for me to read.

That was posted before Olipro and I made the updated unlocker now you do just run the 2.40 hard SPL and then the new rom, no need to relock

If he has a phone that has never been unlocked or had a non-OEM ROM flashed, is there any advantage to installing the 2.40 hard SPL prior to flashing the package kmartburrito posted?

there is no advantage, just the need. if you dont load that bootloader you wont be able to boot the rom.

If you read kmartburrito's original post when he made the ROM available, he states that it will work just fine if you start with the stock bootloader. I flashed it that way originally and the ROM booted with no problem. I doubt that something changed since then to keep it from booting without the hard SPL. My question as to whether there is any advantage to installing the hard SPL still stands.
