Re: nueLED - configure/customize your LEDs...

Darn. I might have to retract my success report for the Sprint Touch. Twice in the hour and a half I've had it installed, my phone has refused to turn on and I've had to reset it. In both cases, it was plugged in and left to sit alone for awhile. It probably entered sleep mode and it seems it continued on into coma mode. :)

Admittedly, I have seen this problem before I installed this. Maybe two times spread over the 2 months I've had this device. But the sudden increase right after I installed this seems suspicious. I'm not saying I'm sure it's the cause, but it's a clear correlation. I'll leave it on the device for now and see if it happens when the device is not plugged in. Let me know if you have any thoughts.

Do me a favor and uninstall the the 1.3 version and try the 1.1 version I posted a couple posts back. Mine has frozen a couple of times and I am wondering if its something with 1.3. My freezing happened a couple of times and it was plugged into the charger each time.

Let me know how it works.

Nice job! I haven't tested this yet, but I was working on this same concept a while back. I gave up after experiencing lockups on stanby. I think it was happening on XXX_PowerDown, but I never investigated it fully. Let me know if you would like some help debugging it.

I cooked the OEM into a rom, and then i had lots of problems with it not waking from standby, but using the cab to install it worked fine.

hmm, i think the lockups i have are due to a memory leak in 1.3
LED_PowerDown just does a return; so not sure why that would cause a lockup unless im not handling something....

I've run your cleaner (I think...it didn't say anything) and installed 1.1. I'll report how it goes later tonight or tomorrow.

1.3's problems were not limited to when it was plugged in. The last few hours I had 3 freezes while unplugged. On one of them, it actually did turn on for a split second and then entered its coma. The other times it was already in the coma when I took it out of my pocket.

hrm...my 1.1 won't uninstall...is that unusual? LOL. Any ideas? Can someone repost 1.1? Maybe I can reinstall and then uninstall it...

<EDIT> Ok...I found 1.1 posted a couple pages back. Excuse my blindness.
<EDIT2> Hrm...1.1 won't come off no matter what I do. Looks like I might have to hard reset as well. I can't seem to take it off the installed program list. HOWEVER, reinstalling 1.1 does seem to work...and it is usable so I guess I'll stick to that until ROM 5050 is out and I update ROMS again. So what was added to 1.4 that's new? (Disappointed I have to miss out on that...hehehe)

lots of new stuff. its amazing. 1.4 should also automatically clean your registry for you, so have it do that, then reinstall 1.4 to get all the settings back...

Will this let me disable the LEDs without disabling Vibrate? If so, is Vibrate treated just like another LED and if so what is it's code?

it will not affect the vibrate feature.
vibrate does not have an address, as it is controlled via another ioctl.
besides, im pretty sure you can disable vibrate through the registry.

Re: nueLED - configure/customize your LEDs...

Thanks!, That's great, I just know that all the programs in the past that I've tried that shut off the LEDs also killed vibration alerts. I needed the vibration notification, just not the LEDs. Any chance of putting a toggle mode into your program? Where you can have 2 choices? Example in a dark theater (or at night on my nightstand) I don't want the flashing lights, but normally I don't mind them?

not yet, on the roadmap for 1.5 =)

Just a status check...

no2chem, do we now have the ability to change the flashing frequency? And did you find the red LED address?

If no to the frequency question, do you have plans to try to include that feature?

You never cease to amaze me...

Re: nueLED - configure/customize your LEDs...

I think I found a found a conflict between nueLED and QuickMenu.. Though I'm not specifically sure how to recreate it.. Sometimes, if I receive a message, the orange notification light will start flashing, which is good.. But even after I read the message, it will continue flashing until I go to my Today screen, and touch the QuickMenu battery bar in the top right. I think it's because it creates another notification that I can hit dismiss on thus canceling the orange light. Anyone else seen this? Or does QuickMenu just suck and I shouldn't be using it anyways? ;)

Also, I have your ROM, no2chem, build 5049 with the nueLED built in.. If I wanted to upgrade to nueLED 1.5 when you release it, Can I just install? Or is there another step needed?

Thanks! Amazing work you do!!

My old LED Killer had an issue with QuickMenu if you had a specific option checked. Go into QuickMenu's option and under the view tab, uncheck the box for "Show on all titlebars". The way Quickmenu implemented that hack causes issues with LED control for some reason.

Just install it the cab version once I have the files available and it should work fine.

Yeah, I noticed it did it really badly, like every message I received, when I had "Show on all titlebars" on.. But I have it off and it still does it every 10th message or so. It's not a dealbreaker by any means, Just confusing sometimes when you go "Oh, I have a message", wake it up and see there's nothing..

I just did this, and it didn't work. The cab installed fine. Called for a soft set, I did. Now when I go Start->Settings->Personal->nueLED, I get a popup that says "We have detected you have registry entries are corrupted. We can clean these for you but you will lose all your settings. Clean the registry?"

I click Ok and it gives Error... "An unexpected error has occurred in nueLEDConfig.exe. Select Quit and then restart this program, or select Details for more information."

Details leads to
"nueLEDConfig.exe

Hope that helps any debugging :)

Hey folks... quick quesiton... using 1.5 i redirected the notification LED to the Bluetooth LED.

I then sent myself an email, it came through on active sync, the bluetooth LED blinked as it should, but then it wouldn't stop. It just kept blinking even though I had dismissed the notification, and read/deleted the email.

Am I missing some setting somewhere, or would this be a potential bug?

Cool. Mine was a fresh install, as I had just installed DCD 2.3.1 ROM prior to installing nueLED, so I don't think I would have had too much gunk in the system to mess it up.

Re: nueLED - configure/customize your LEDs...

OOOKKKK...Here we go guys! So, for those of you with 1.1 installed that CAN'T GET RID OF IT, and whenever you install new versions, pops up the whole nonsense about registry settings being corrupted, and errors in the nueLEDconfig.exe...this procedure works - ONLY CAVEAT is that nueLED 1.1 still shows up in the uninstall program list and I have NO IDEA how to remove it from the list! Having said that, all SUBSEQUENT VERSIONS WILL WORK STILL.

Step 1: Uninstall 1.1 from the remove programs...yah yah, I know it says it can't uninstall properly...just ignore that.

Step 2: Reg edit according to 1st page:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr]
"Index"=dword:1

ALSO CHANGE
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\nueLED]
"Index"=dword:2

Step 3:
Reboot!
Your original LED pattern, (i.e. signal light should be flashing etc.)

Step 4:
If you can, delete the nueLED key from above...it wouldn't let me on my PDA though...

Step 5:
Install newer version -> 1.5 last I checked. It WILL install properly this time, (installation says successful, but it won't ask you to reboot.) You can now start up the new nueLED program (pun intended :-)) and make whatever changes you want without it crashing.

So...if anyone knows how to delete old entries from the installed program list, please post the solution!!!
