Friday Releases instead of Monday

Keep in mind, Apple is going to have some "big deal" televised and webcasted on Tuesday...

New G3 Iphone? I know they will be shipping the SDK. So trying to beat Apple to the punch?

So what sort of problems are you guys seeing with the radio? The only complaint so far from my wife is that every now and then the phone won't ring or notify of new messages unless it's turned on which, of course, is a pretty major problem which requires a soft reset to correct.

eXplicit 02-14-2008 11:28 AM

The test release works great for me. I thought I had a problem with it, but it turned out to be the version of Opera I was using. I had 8.65 installed on it, and it was constantly screwing up my phone to where I needed a soft reset to resolve it. I went back to 2.17 for a while, then yesterday upgraded back cause I missed my GPS and Rev A. So far, no problems, and I'm using the Opera browser 8.6 instead of 8.65. I'm thinking that this new release will be what we all hope it to be. They may have left some features (i.e. Sprint TV, 6.1, etc.) out of the test, just because they knew it would get out. Everyone already knows it was gonna have GPS. So they put Sprint Navigation in it. I'd be pretty disappointed if they went this long and didn't add at least the Sprint TV (Working).

This new rom is a big day for all. If they get it right they can literaly tell people this phone "Does it all!". I just chatted with a friend over at MS and he tells me that the new WM platform that is going to take on the Iphone is back compatable to the titans!! So IF this rom and the future roms are of good quality our user base should increase a good bit. On top of that we are looking at AWSOME upgrade options in the future as well. I am very happy or will be when this new rom comes out and DCD/Nexvision get there hands on it :)

Gomer03 02-14-2008 12:40 PM

If it is released....look at HTC's support site. Nothing mentions a new rom being released anymore...

nxtech3 02-14-2008 12:49 PM

I would rather use no2Chems ROM and just add the OEMs you would like. Of course there are some bugs but IMO i think i would rather have some semi-safe bugs(minor problems) instead of some junked up bug spray(offcial ROM) if you know what i mean

Probably a tethering option in the new firmware update...=D>

If released . . .

Still shows when I get on HTC Website . . .

"Additionally, HTC is currently developing a separate ROM update which enables the EV-DO Rev. A and GPS capabilities that are already built into the Mogul hardware. Sprint and HTC plan to make this software ROM available in early 1Q 2008. Please bookmark this page for easy reference.
Posted November 29, 2007"

InvincibleLiving 02-14-2008 12:51 PM

Wow.. that is so true. It's funny cause Sprint releases a ROM, and then the community fixes it. It amazes me that they don't visit these communities, or start some kind of program that allows us to test and troubleshoot their software before they do Official releases. Honestly, out of all the Mogul users in the world, i bet only 10-15% of them know about these forums, or all the things that can be done with the phone.

Oh well, i'm just glad we have guys like DCD and No2Chem around here and at XDA who can take a pile of junk and turn it into a masterpiece!

LMFAO!!! Must be retarded 3 people who take turns transfering to eachother who know nothing about phones too.. hahaha

Krayziepop 02-14-2008 01:48 PM

Like I already said though... the Official ROMs are of utmost importance because the files have to come from somewhere. DCD/Colonel/Cokeman/Helmi etc.. etc... etc.. these guys don't pull these files out of their asses people. Without base code to work from, even they can't work their magic. A lot of the fixes that have surface so far have involved piecing together the good parts of other ROMs and making one good one from it. With each official release, there is a good chance for updated drivers (bluetooth, cam, gps, display, kernal drivers... etc.) to be bundled with it. So there is good reason to be excited about another Sprint release. Of course it may just be the same junk we've had pieced back together differently all over again - but anything that gets updated could make the whole device more stable and faster. Think of graphics card drivers... gamers tend to keep there drivers at the bleeding edge because as drivers mature they tend to get better (in some cases). The same can be said for mobile devices. The effects of new drivers could be profound for a device like this, or it just may make the thing as stable as it should be.

Anyway... the devs here do the thing they do in a great way. In a way, Sprint might just be throwing them a bone with the next ROM... there could be something in there that will make future builds even better than they are now. I always stay on the optimistic side of things if at all possible. :p

So tomorrow is the big day we all have been waiting for?

We'll see!

Exactly ;)

The folks making ROMs here are not writing the actual OS or drivers... and these are the things that need to change in order to get GPS and BT working adequately.

Tregrad 02-14-2008 02:50 PM

I feel like its Christmas eve and No2 and DCD have their little elves just waiting for the package of files to arrive so they can work some magic with them.
the site is going to crash like it did last time so make sure to put the rom and what ever else happens up over at xda to loosen the load a bit eh?

i know its early but maybe the mogul rom release date got confused with the Tilt rom which is supposed to be released today ....... but im still hoping that it will be today so that the wonderful minds behind the custom roms could have a field day.

Re: Official ROM Release Date Confirmed!

HTC is located in California. So if your on the east coast right now its only 5:30 AM they arent at work yet. As i told them at SprintMogul.net that you can always try Windows Mobile 6.1. I installed it last night and so far im ETREMELY inpressed. If you just do a straight ROM upgrade with the RUU it dont loose any information accept your contacts and appts. Give it a try you may not want the offical ROM release specially if its now Windows Mobile 6.1

How and where does Sprint distribute any of there updates. I know this isn't out there yet, but in general. I have looked all over on Sprint's website and have never been able to find any sort of a technical area. I thought it would be somewhere under support but can't find anything.

Yeah I am not holding my breath here either. I thought it was weird to release on a Friday verses a Monday like all other releases have been. I think if they were going to release the update it would have already been posted... anyways just my two cents.
