See this is why you don't believe everything over the phone. Here several forums have quoted this single post thinking that it was creditable info. So all day long people have been checking the htc site in hopes to see an update. Big waste of time.

As much as people like to bash Sprint Support at times, this entire thread comes from one person reporting that they (claim) that "someone" at Sprint claimed that there was a mogul release today. There was no announcement, official or even slightly official. No slamming the OP, s/he was just being hopeful, but on this occasion I can't see even the slightest reason to bash Sprint.

That makes sense... I wasn't really meaning to bash sprint/htc... I guess it isn't their fault, unless they truly were intending to release a ROM today.

Well... not to be too technical but, they did say early 1Q and right about now its midQ. And as you yourself mentioned they have made no announcement, official or even slightly official. I know if I owe somebody on teh street and I tell them ill pay Tuesday, I should proli call on Wednesday... just a thought. On a side note: please commence flaming!

I don't think people give sprint enough credit, yes I know they have not been able to get the GPS and Rev A working and all...and you can call me crazy, but one of these days..

sprint will release a new phone in the beginning of a year on which the billing system won't work, thus giving everyone free service! And then promise to make it work by the end of the year. and in November release a none-functioning billing system and take it down promising to release it early quarter 1 of 2008...only to leave people hanging despite our demand to pay them!

But thanks to a leaker, an experimental billing system will be released which will allow us to pay our bills to sprint, thus saving the day! and we will finally be able to pay our bills through that way with rumors and post hypes about a billing system we will post threads and etc only maybe eventually in march will they get a working billing system!

Okay...okay..maybe that won't happen...but I can dream* can I not? at least that sprint can't take away from me!

*with a 39.99 dream plan from sprint. Includes up to 6 hours of dreaming and $0.50 for each additional minute spent dreaming. Patents pending...

sigh..okay I give up :(

A loser company? Sprint? Ya think?!?

I noticed a couple weeks ago that all the Sprint kiosks at the local mall had been abandoned. The stuff is all still there, but they haven't been manned in, by now, at least a couple of months. The other day I also noticed that the local Sprint store is also closed, sign taken down, gone. Except for a repair office, that means there's no more Sprint presence in this area as far as I know. Or care. I wonder if we're finally seeing the death throes of this dump of a company?

I should hope not. Without price competition, consumers lose. If Sprint goes away then there is no pressure on VzW to bring prices down. I was with VzW for about a decade paying their exorbitant prices. Without Sprint SERO I wouldn't have a data plan.

Sprint has MANY flaws, but pricing isn't one of them. Neither is their data network, blows away VzW.

Plus, many of you have short term memories. Don't forget that Sprint released this phone at least 6 months earlier than VzW who kept jerking their customers around with "we're still testing it..." Still testing it? VzW finally releases it in December.... and it's still got a bug ridden ROM from August! LMAO. At least by then Sprint had already released the 2.17 ROM which addressed the alarm wake up, KB, and other issues that VzW customers were then just dealing with.

If you know anything about business and free markets, you'd better hope Sprint doesn't go away. They're not perfect, but at least they offer another choice to VzW.

TC1, I completely agree. I'm on SERO, and before that Verizon. I'm really happy with the pricing plan, and I wish Sprint and HTC would release a stable ROM ASAP. But I'm just as happy with the developer community for this phone.

+1 on this. Im on SERO too having jumped from VZW. I imagine VZW Vs. SPCS as Intel Vs. AMD :mrgreen:

Wow...just the other day half the people on this thread were "hip hip hooraying" Sprint for having the possibility of this actually coming out. Now that it didn't Sprint suddenly became the worst cellular carrier in the world... I wasn't really holding my breath on this. If it came out good...if not then guess I'll wait some more.

Ok THAT was crewl...

I sent email to HTC and Sprint and got two different answers:

What I sent:
"Question: Your web site says that the update for the Mogul will be out early 1Q 2008. That time has passed. Can you please post the real date?

This phone would be really great if it would actually do what it said it would when I bought it. I paid $550 for something that still doesn't work after 6 months. This is frustrating at the least. I hope this will work before my warranty runs out."

What Sprint Said:
"Thank you for contacting Sprint. We apologize for any inconvenience and we are sorry that you are frustrated.

The information we have regarding the Mogul update is a release date of 1Q 2008. This could be anytime between now and the end of March. The beta version of the update is currently being tested by HTC's test users - if no additional issues are discovered in testing, we would expect a release date of early March.

Thank you again for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business."

What HTC said:
"We know it is important for you to have all the information about our latest updates. We regret to inform you that the information Sprint representatives have provided you with is incorrect. All updates for cell phone branded devices have to be reprogrammed by Sprint engineers for use with their version of the OS. Sprint may provide feedback to you via SMS when the update is ready. Please continue to check our web page for the update.

Thank you for your patience and for contacting HTC."

IMHO, I was expecting it to come around this time March.


Given the beta, which I believe was purposely leaked, wasn't out for that long. It'd make sense.

Has PPC Geeks compiled a bugs sheet for an "un-customized" 3.16?
For every report we should probably claim bluetooth is lacking in the ROM ;) for insurance on the next release.
I hope they do look into fixing all of the bugs & release it around 3/20-ish.

Lol all of this anti Sprint... I can see why in alot of cases but what people dont realise is if Sprint wasnt so competitive we would all be paying 100-300$ cell phone bills.

How easy people forget that every HTC phone has alot of problems. You can not always blame the carriers. Windows Mobile in general is a disaster as it is.

i belive your statment could not be more true. this post you just make should be made a sticky. I love sprint. I found through email customer service they are a very good CS company. DONT CALL email them . As for there price, they are UNBEATABLE, people bitch and moan about everything in this country when some serious isse are going on like Global warming(im serious about this one) and people are starving , but we have mobile phones that are more like computers in our pockets and we just cannot stop bitching. bottom line is Sprint while not being the best CS compoany, we all know this , there prices and service is very good and be happy you dont have verizon and pay 150.00 a month for the same service sprint offers for 45 a month.

oh and I had verizon fios and i had to swtich back because the Cs so so bad I couldnt get any help opn the issues I was having , you want to talk about a joke,

i am an equal opportunity hater. sprint needs to slap htc around for phone problems and i need to slap sprint around for billing issues and slapping non-existing features on a phone box.
