Yah..I've been thinking about this new ROM release...what's the point anymore?

It won't be 6.1, and we already have GPS (I'm using no2chem's ROM). Plus, we don't want the bloatware from the official ROM...

The only good thing that I can see is if we can steal the improved GPS compatibility from the official one and slap that into a 6.1 clean, custom ROM.

I'd take any official 6.0 ROM over the 6.1. I've tried both DCD and no2chem ROM's. They are OK but just as unstable as any WM ROM since 2000. It's all placebo effect. The cooked ROM's only modify features aka add-ons but in the end the core OS is the same. It's still the same Windows CE stack of components.

Don't get me wrong, I downloaded the .cab for IE from 6.1 when I downgraded back to unnoff 3.16. However all ROM's official or unofficial will always be unstable until MS rebuilds Win CE from the ground up.

Just my 1 cent

I used to always upgrade to the new official ones, but unless there's something we don't know, I won't bother. no2chem's 6.1 ROM is so fantastic that the only reason I'm happy there's a new release is it might include new drivers or something that no2chem can cook into an update.

I want a better radio... this current radio isn't in a usable state with the constant EVDO disconnects... I imagine they'll have a newer radio in the real release...

I have no problems with my radio with Verizon. A release for the provider will definitely be nice though.

I disagree.

DCD"s clean ROM v1.6.10 has been by far the most stable rom i've ever used. I haven't had one lock-up or issue with it.
