nice work! i am a new mogul owner and an old timer when it comes to hacking and tweaking stuff - but have never messed with any mobile devices...the instructions are right on and i cant wait to leave work so i can play with GPS!!!

the only wierd thing i see is the phone signal meter in the title bar is cut in half (so i cant see my bars) every once in a while it will be 100% visible...

any ideas?

thanks again!

That doesn't add anything that you would see. It just gives the ability to customize based on cabs on a storage card. It is a great idea and a very easy way for end users to customize their devices and decrease the time it takes to do so.

So its kinda like a self extracting back up? but instead just launches all installs at once?

this is why you guys need to learn how to make roms

I feel your pain man! With a new release coming out daily, I've pretty much got the process of reinstalling everything down to a science! :) I was able to do it in 15 minutes this morning...including a sync for my contacts! haha

when a new baskit come you just ad your omes build flash and your done no need to install cabs or settings to the way you had it before. it really is not that hard to make your own rom.

What tools do you use to build the ROM from the basekit? DogGuy's kitchen? I'm pretty sure Helmi's Apache kitchen tools don't work...

I haven't actually tried that. Is there any step by step guides on how to do this with the basekit?

There's another thread that discusses exactly this...
Just use his no2chem's basekit rar and extract all the files over to dogguy's kitchen. Then you can customize to your heart's content and then run buildit.exe to get the finalized rom.

On a slightly seperate note...I REALLY like the idea of having the automated CAB installer. I personally like having the programs listed in the "remove programs" list...it's great that no2chem has a "base" rom, with very few customizations :-) I would suggest adding the "security settings" registry hack to the roms though ;-)

Thanks again no2chem for all your hard work!!!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366337 shouldnt take long for a seasond pro like yourself

i've been looking into adding uc functionality for a while now, you'll probably see that in the next release with extrom tools

and the reason i've been holding off on basekit is because of the extrom tool - so once thats done both new rom and basekit will go up.

I built a custom off the 5044 basekit and it was working fine until it locked up on me today. I tried resetting it several times with and without the SD in, but it would lock up right when it was loading the today screen. Ended up hard resetting to get it to boot all the way up.

Not sure if it was something I did in the custom ROM or something in the basekit.
