Btw in case anyone has a problem with EPST look for the EPST 4.54.0.0 file. Its here under the touch pro forum. Just saying since it wasn't working for me and just replaced file and worked like a charm.

vistazifta use GetSPC (google it.its for wm2003 but works w/mogul) and use QPST to load prl file that will get you talk/text

Thanks!, I know iv ben doing this too all kinds of phones for years (including stupid phones and I'm pretty good at reading msl-spc,s) but I still have rebboting issues on Verizon too but it could just be a lose battery port or something ( think that its why I stopped using it was back then)

Just discovered this thread and dl'd the sprint rom for my Mogul. will flash review and give feedback soon. Just wondering if You have a "Bare Bones" version around with just the minimum on it (Ie. just the default titanium, just the base manila files. and any tweaks.) with maybe nue led. and uc compliant, etc. I can install all else from cabs or use sd config. but really wanting to try something without all the extra apps. (God knows I bog it down with enough of my own. lol) currently using ALee's 6.5 carrierless light on boost cdma. htc titan(Sprint Mogul) with Alltell radio 3.42.50. Have tried nearly every rom for this thing out there. I thought this rom from ALee was just about the latest and last for this ole mogul. Then I stumbled across this thread. Can't wait to try it. Still looking for a perfect combo of light on resources and SOME eye candy. (transparent task and soft key bars, and glass flip clock on today screen, but WITHOUT using the ram raping spb mobile shell or the like) currently using cHero clock Modded to be transparent panels. and for Best transparent look on the bars, using IC Thru U. This also makes the transparency look better when turning on titanium. Any advice/ feedback on these issues GREATLY APPRECIATED. :-) Thx for the new rom, Tink. It looks very appealing, and I've NEVER been a huge m2d/sense fan. more the less COMBINED with Titanium. lol - The Jackal

Just busted my old Sprint Titan out of storage to tinker with it, and installed this ROM. So far, so good. Haven't done much testing, though. I've used Tinkerbell ROMs in the past with good results, but this one has the best startup screens I've seen. ;-)

Hi Tinkerbell,

I just recently bought a..BRAND NEW XV6800. I have a Samsung i760, but could never get past the fact that the touch screen was absolutely terrible, and that there was no internal GPS. Then I remembered about the XV6800, and got this lucky find for under $70.

I have been using it for a couple of weeks, and consider it the best Windows Mobile device released in terms of functionality - it has all the wireless options, great keyboard and screen, and lastly something great that is for some reason missing on recent phones - D-pad and a scroll wheel.

Although the device is very functional for my purposes, it is noticeably slower than my i760, and boots with only 20-22 mb of RAM. I wanted to know, does your ROM improve the responsiveness of the device / make it more "snappy"?

I have never flashed any kind of non-official ROMs, and was wondering, is there a clear set of directions for your particular ROM, a step-by-step guide of sorts?

The device came in with the MR.2 update (Windows Mobile 6.1). I went through countless forum posts to try to find the valhalla and surftelus cabs to enable the aGPS on the XV6800 - and finally found both files and the correct registry edits that work today in 2012.

However, I also have found an excellent piece of software that gets the device a GPS lock called GPS2day. It is a plugin on the standard today screen which displays satellite time, coordinates, speed, and elevation. When you click on the icon, and put the phone near the window or open sky, the phone gets a lock. After that, all GPS apps work flawlessly. I tested this with the stock Verizon MR.2, and got a lock outside each time with the data connection turned off, and the phone module disabled. GPS2day has worked on all internal GPS devices I own - LG Fathom, Samsung Mondi, and the XV6800.

I was very happy I didn't have to update the radio, custom flash (which I have never done, and thought now wouldn't be the best time to start, with all developers leaving Windows Mobile), and that I was able to get the GPS working! I have personally never seen this "fix" listed anywhere. However, now I notice that the phone is slower than the i760 with the same specs, and I wanted to see if a custom ROM would offer me a boost in the device responsiveness.

I am finally going to flash your ROM - was too busy the last month or two. I needed to make sure that the particular ROM/Radio will work with Verizon - do I need to call Verizon to provide me with some sort of key after flashing, and will that work today?

Also, do you have a set of directions to follow for your particular ROM? I know nothing about flashing and do not have any programs installed, and a lot of the old guides no longer reference the needed files. I am very afraid to brick this device or be stuck on a certain step, as I have really grown to like it, but was hoping to get a little more responsiveness out of it.

Hi! You don't need to get a key from Verizon. Your device will still work on the Verizon network after the flash. There is a detailed readme file with instructions included in the rar. Have fun!

Since I am starting with a locked device stock MR.2 ROM which came preloaded from Verizon on the device, do I need to run the Hard-SPL 2.40 or the nuespl 2.47?

I found this thread here, which tells me how to flash from a stock Verizon ROM to a custom ROM

The first step is "For ppl with MR1 or MR2 Rom!!! you need to downgrade to Verizon 2.09 org. stock rom!! FIRST!!

When done come back for the upgrade" The wiki on xda is no longer available, so I am not sure what to do...

Do your directions already automate this process, or should I go through some sort of an unlocker / go back to the original stock ROM before upgrading?

states that I do not have to downgrade to the first Verizon ROM, and can directly unlock through nuespl or Olipro. Sorry for being clueless here, just trying to be extra careful not to brick the phone...could you please clarify about this?

Tinkerbell, I cannot move past step 1 (unlocking) either through the RUU or the 2 GB micro SD card.

Through RUU, I get into the bootloader, and it still says Spl-2.07 (not 2.40 per the instructions).

When I go the micro SD card route with nueSPL 2.47, I do everything per the directions stated in the .pdf file, but when I click continue after the device passed all checks (formatted FAT32 from the device directly), a message pops up "You're still here?...Fatal error!"

Thankfully, the titan_exitbl.exe worked both times, and I am back in Windows Mobile. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, when I booted back into WM following the RUU attempt, I got a message that SPL cleanup utility can't run, but then the phone went back into WM just fine. Do I need to perform some sort of a cleanup of the device or deleting some files before I attempt the unlocking again?

What I meant was the first of the three steps you mentioned. So essentially step 3 out of 5. The phone just sits in bootloader when I attempt to flash from RUU. What is strange, is that it says something along the lines of TITA100 SPL 2.07 and CDLP-9 on the first colored bar, NOT 2.40 or 2.47. The SD method doesn't work per the description in the above post.

I am now able to see the 2.40 on the bootloader, but the unlock stops and says that my device is not connected. I suspect there could be something up with the pc: do I need a particular .NET framework installed for this to work?

Hey Tink, long time no talk. I was cleaning out my desk drawer a couple of days ago and found my Mogul (formerly owned by Mattsm) and my Titan (formerly owned by JooJooBee666). I decided to dust off the Mogul and charge up the battery since I am on Sprint. A lightning strike took out my old computer and my external hard drive, al the datal I have been able to salvage is what I had stored on Marky-b's server o_O, so I haven't built for a LONG time. With that said, I'm gonna take this ROM for a spin while I dig around and see if anyone has a stable Haret build for the Mogul yet. I'll post my results.

Good to see the crew is still supporting this dinosaur!

Hey Tinkerbell,
Thank you for this great rom. I recently purchased this old phone because it has wifi without a data plan and I had heard it was fairly hackable. I am new to flashing roms on phones but your toolkit is much more straightforward that anything else that I have seen. I have been very happy with it and your rom so far. I also want to install android on this, I have seen some videos but I have not yet found any full instructions. Do you know if this is still possible and if so can I install it without removing your rom?

Just in case anybody cares to try installing android I have gotten it to work at least somewhat using instructions found here: NerdRockIT.com » Android on HTC 6800 Titan Sprint Mogul Wifi and the camera however do not work. Other than that it is pretty stable and one can always use windows mobile for internet and picture taking

Hey folks! I've had no cell plan for a few years. But, I have my old Sprint Mogul and Cricket told me they can flash it to work with their carrier.

What else can/should I do to get the most out of this old phone?

Hi Tinkerbell - I finally got some time to flash your ROM, and it is a success! It turns out I was stuck on the radio step, but mine was already GPS enabled when it came in the box (3.37), so I flashed your ROM (step 5 in your archive), and it was fine. There was also something wrong with the cable, so I got another one.

You mentioned that it is possible to enter a high-memory mode by disabling the camera. Could you please elaborate as to how I can do that?

Hi Tinkerbell,

Although I was able to custom flash your and RyanMogul's ROMs, and the phone/data work fine, it appears that I have lost GPS functionality (which I was able to get working in the stock ROM). Is there something I need to do with the QSPT and reset settings for Verizon?

I am using 3.37 radio, which I was not able to update via your utility, but I figured it would not matter, since its already GPS enabled (all 3.35 and up are GPS enabled, as I understand).

Sorry for the late reply. Here is what on my XV6800 right now:

ROM version: RM 1.5 (the last ROM I flashed is RyanMogul's WM 6.1 light to try out)
Radio version: 3.37.78

This radio has not been updated - the phone came stock (brand new) with the stock radio and MR2. When I wanted to flash your ROM, you sent me the Verizon GPS Toolset, and told me to follow steps 3-5.

Step 4 is "4 - Titan Radio ROM 3.42.50 - PRI 2.03_002" folder, to flash the radio. It says in the instructions "1. Flash via RUU by opening the RUU folder and running the ROMUpdateUtility.exe, or microSD card that is 2 Gb or smaller and has been previously formated in FAT32."

I click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe, and the phone enters bootloader, gets to the gray screen with the % bar, thinks for a bit, gets to 8% with the flashing, and then suddenly reboots and the screen on the computer says "This update utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please check your Update Utility."

What am I doing wrong?

As a follow up thought, should I buy a 2GB or less card to try to flash the radio that way? Previously, with a stock Verizon ROM MR2 I could not update from 3.37 stock radio to 3.42 from the card, and the card actually could not be written to anymore after I tried that (ended up throwing it away). However, now that I flashed a custom ROM, would this be possible now?

I got the GPS working. The RUU method (Step 4 in your folder) for flashing the radio to 3.42.50 from stock 3.37 did not work. I bought a 2GB microsd, and formatted it using the method described in this post

Previously, I broke my microsd card by formatting it through My Computer->right click>format, so just dug around until I found the proper way to do it.

I then flashed the radio 3.42.50 using the card, and it worked fine. Now I had RyanMogul's ROM and the GPS radio, but could not get a lock in clear sky. I re-flashed ROMs, but to no avail.

I then found RyanMogul's post "Here is a fix for GPS for all you VX6800 users that gps will not function!!"

And after following through with instructions how to flash back to stock, then re-flash back to his ROM, I found the correct Verizon QPST settings here

Then I re-flashed a custom ROM, fixed the registry, and voila! Got a GPS fix inside in about 5 seconds!!!

If anyone gets a Verizon stock ROM/radio XV6800, I would be glad to help out. It seems it has been only a couple of years since the activity ceased for the device, but most of the forum links for downloads/etc. were dead, and it took the whole day today to get this thing working. Thanks for the help, its great that we have a forum that is still active!
