Re: [4-21-11]Tinkerbell's 29019 Titan Rom TBN 39.92 [Verizon/Sprint]

The only other thing I can't find is the HTC pluggin that showed the amount of ram free, the task manager that is built into this ROM shows what's running and CPU utilization, but I haven't been able to find the free ram setting. I've gotten a few running low on memory errors and have no idea how to find what should I disable or clear non-system ram.

Any suggestions Tink??

TIA

Okay, I am mobile at the moment, so bear with me. The second colored line on the top of the home screen is your Program Memory. Also, under the start menu you can click on Oxios Hibernate and gain back lost Program Memory.

Yes, I found that after I sent that message. It's all about the immediate gratification with me!

On your today screen, if you click on the lower right corner, the screen that flashes up will also show you your available Program Memory as a number. Hope that helps. Glad it is running for you there!

So it's been a day or so of using this new rom and here's what I noticed so far.

Battery life is slightly lower than the stock image, still gets you through the day maybe a 10%-15% difference. I'm sure that's for all the extras installed on the ROM so no complaints there.

ActiveSync can be quirky. I lost connection for some reason and stopped getting mail for about 3 hours. Not sure what happened here, it was working when I left the house in the morning but around 11:30am, it stop working and didn't notice it till mid afternoon. I may have closed activesync but don't remember. Activesync throw some message in the connection screen, that I dug up but didn't write the error down. I didn't think I could close system processes before on the stock ROM so maybe I need to be careful on where I try to free up some RAM.

Overall very good, clean ROM, just need to watch the activesync, I needs my mail!

The only other thing to add with this release is that on certain screens you might hit a button and a Window opens up, afterwhich any other screen you open will have black in the shape of the screen on all other windows. The only way I can clear it is to reboot the phone. Doesn't happen enough to complain about it, just wondering if there an option or a way to clear it without rebooting.

Hey testacon! Thank you for the feedback! Run the Rom for a week, and then see what your battery life is. I have noticed that when a person flashes a new Rom, they turn into heavy users for a few days as they figure out all the new goodies. After a few days, you should notice improvement. If you don't, I have a few suggestions for you if it is bothering you.

I am not sure on this one. I haven't seen any issue myself here.

Re: [4-21-11]Tinkerbell's 29019 Titan Rom TBN 39.92 [Verizon/Sprint]

I have not been able to make it happen a 3rd time now. Originally when I didn't have any bluetooth devices paired and I clicked on the bluetooth icon, in the Comm Manager area and it started to "think" and show the rotating colored circle. When it was over and I went back to the home screen, there was just a black window maybe half of the entire screen blocking everything visually, I was still able to make the selection, just not see what I was clicking on.

I've tried to turn bluetooth off and on about 8 times and now it works as expected. I'll keep trying to push the envelope over the next few days to see if it happens again and post back if it does or doesn't.

Also haven't had any activesync problems today either--so yea!

Re: [4-21-11]Tinkerbell's 29019 Titan Rom TBN 39.92 [Verizon/Sprint]

Quick question...

I see the kernel can run in two modes, low and high mem. What is the difference other then the camera is disabled? Does that mean that the high mem one uses more cache to make the phone speedier? Can you change back and forth without consequences? I might take a few pictures a month. If a snappier phone is achieved, and a reboot gives me back the camera, I can live with that. If it's a one way only switch, then I'll leave well enough alone...

As always,

Thanks!

The difference is that you will gain 8 to 10MB's of Program Memory!! Well worth it if you don't use your camera daily

Yes, it will be 'speedier'!!

Yes, I change back and forth several times a day when needed.

By all means, run in high-memory mode. I have your camera button set to ask to switch to low-memory mode when it is depressed. So no big deal for you as a user!! Have fun out there!!

amazing!

this rom not only runs my mogul as fast as my treo pro, it also has tethered internet speeds that are well beyond what ive ever seen on any of my phones. 1.11mb download and .34 upload! that is excellent for a $10 service plan!

my cable company wants $30 a month for similar speeds, and thats a connection that must stay at home.

GREAT rom. best ive seen for titan yet.

Yes, I have made SOME progress with the Generic Rom, but I cannot seem to get it to be stable after stripping out the carrier information. The device either locks up unexpectedly, or it goes into a vicious rebooting cycle. If any other developers have any ideas, I would love to hear them!

Are any of the other version's of this ROM have a text messaging glitch? It seems that my text messages are coming from the future, the year 2017 to be exact. Keep wishing though some lottery numbers come through but it's been some old school news like the death of Osama Bin Laden and such. The only other thing to note is that somehow my text messaging app integrated into my push Exchange mail and they also show up in my Outlook workstation client.

Thanks again!

I have built a Rom here with 29020 and cannot detect any noticeable changes from 29019. Still, I am going to update this Rom with the new build once we iron out a few more quirks! Thank you for your inquiry!

Ah, okay. Well, we crunched some more battery life out of the device by adjusting some settings, we fixed the YouTube no-play issue, and we adjusted the GUI on the start menu. We also moved up from 29007 to 29019. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts! Thanks for your interest!

Some noob questions for your new rom (assuming the data switch gets added and I take the plunge)
1. does this rom come with a radio or does it use the radio I already have? I have verizon and have radio 3.42.50 installed.
2. I assume since there are different roms for different carriers, the rom comes with the carrier "customizations" already done, so I don't need to do that step like I just did with my old DCD rom.
3. Does flashing to this rom cause a hard reset/loss of all data/programs (maybe flashing to any rom causes this and I just forgot about that).
4. Will I lose my verizon "connection" meaning I will have to call and get a new "a key" etc.

Correct, just flash and go.

Yes. All custom Rom's clear your information upon flashing. There is a Backup program included with this Rom to make restoring your information and contacts easier!

No. Immediately after flashing you will be ready to go. It is super easy!

Re: [5-01-11]Tinkerbell's 29019 Titan Rom TBN 39.92 [Verizon/Sprint/MetroPCS]

I installed iNav, got it working, got it picking up satellites after installing GpsViewer. I am gonna do a soft reboot and tell you the steps I take, and time to get a GPS lock. Seems to be acting funny.

ok doing nothing but a soft reset, and running inav, it took about 8 minutes to get a lock. But I'm not sure if it is using your quick GPS to get the satellite locations, because my data was turned on while iNav was running. I need to look into that. Naturally without a data plan Verizon charges a million bucks a second if I use any data.

Ok confirmed. If I run iNav data connection turns on immediately, bummer...It must trigger the quick GPS program (I may uninstall that

But I turned the phone to airplane settings, and iNav lost signal. But then I turned on GPSviewer, and it found the satellites! and iNav regained connection!

Turned off GPSviewer, turned off iNav, turned on iNav and iNav got the satellites back...this is a tricky little phone.

So for right now I see myself - turning phone to airplane mode, turning gpsviewer on (to kickstart the GPS) turning iNav on, then turning the phone switch back on. This seems to work.

PS any mms sent or received also turns the data connection on. The workaround to getting the data connection off is just to turn it to airplane mode, then turn on the phone switch. That leaves the data connection off. :)

Re: [5-01-11]Tinkerbell's 29019 Titan Rom TBN 39.92 [Verizon/Sprint/MetroPCS]

Retraction below...

This is a minor complaint. It appears the "buttons" setting no longer allows you to assign 2 programs to the "voice command" button (one for a press, another for a hold), and it appears that though there is an option to assign 2 commands to the comm manager button, but the second command does not function (whatever VJCandelaLite is). That's kinda problematic, as I use my phone as a voice recorder (via holding the voice command button, and launching "keep recordin") and as a flashlight (via tapping the voice command button). Kinda a bummer that I can't do both at the push of a button.

Ok I am an idiot, the VJCandelaLite IS a flashlight program, and when I assigned MY flashlight program the the voice command button, I assumed the press and hold wasn't working (Ii thought it was just running my own flashlight program I had installed to the "tap" button) so all is well, and all commands function properly. Thank you.

I would still like to know how to aim the picture feature to a different location, and if a data switch can be added ;).

Yes, this Rom was designed for those that have a data plan. Many of the functions of the Rom ask the phone to connect. Sorry. I designed it that way as I was under the false assumption that everyone has a data plan these days! I see that this is not true now!

UPDATE: Okay, if you make a folder on the root of your storage card as \DCIM\100MEDIA the pictures application on the home screen (Titanium) will pick up those photos on your storage card as well. Happy viewing!

I have tried using the cHome editor in the utilities to edit the home screen, but it doesn't seem to be intuitive. Is there a guide to using it? Also iNav works great without data, but sometimes I can get it to crash the titan by switching into and out of it, basically a static iNAV screen gets frozen, and the phone is doing other things behind it, but because of the frozen screen I can't do anything but soft reboot :)

Final quesiton, I notice in your pics of this rom, you show the more standardized home screen, how do I get the phone to bring that up rather than the fancy scroller home screen that it uses now? I like how many tweaks are built into this rom (its like a new phone) but I'm not quite convinced that the fancyness of it beats the intuitiveness of SPB mobile shell.
