Its the proper cab...

What do you mean by "actually that just bricked my Mogul"? You can't brick the thing with an application... you should be able to just soft-reset it and be done with it and if that doesn't work, a hard reset. Not a reflash.

It's under control, friend. Thanks for the advice.

(Soft-reset wasn't working. It was freezing on the boot screen. I re-flashed instead of just hard-resetting because it seemed like there might have been a problem with my previous ROM flashing, given that the installation of a cab file seemed to have precipitated the freeze-up, a cab file that is otherwise known to work without problem. When I had done the initial flash, there was some hiccuping in my desktop system while it was flashing, so I wanted to remove the variable of any possibility that the first flashing had been bollixed. It took about 30 more seconds of my time to re-flash instead of just hard-resetting. The term "brick" has a fluid meaning in these forums. Often it means that the device will not soft-reset.)

Had to find out what this WM5 hype was all about. Here are some first impressions:

- Much snappier than WM6, at the price of all the eye-candy.
- Older version of PIE is not too exciting. Windows key doesn't appear to load the Start menu anymore in full-screen mode. Shortcut to address bar via context menu is also gone.
- Very noticable delay when going into Phone settings, takes a little bit before it figures out my Voicemail number (which is my phone number, anyway).
- I don't know if I'm just not used to it, but I don't like Verdana rendering in sections of webpages where Tahoma used to render. Is there a way to disable the Verdana font? It doesn't look nice on the small screen at all.
- Can we get Smartdial back? I found the Sidekick-esque dialing very convenient.
- No Microsoft .NET Compact runtime! I couldn't run my contacts backup app to load my contacts..
- DeviceLock (which locked the phone upon wake, and also one-click unlock) doesn't seem to work with WM5.

Most of the problems don't appear to be permanent and could probably be fixed quite easily. I'll stick around with WM5 and see how things go.

Not that this is important, but I said it took about 30 additional seconds of my time to re-flash, not less time.

Yes, all is well now. WM5 HTC plug-in running fine. For those needing, here is a link to the installation instrux.

Thanks again to andason for pointing me in that direction.
