Epic Locking up/Freezing

My wife last week got an new epic and has found that it's locking up during charging. She is using the stock charger but it seems to only lock up during the night while she is charging it. This is really causing issues since she uses it as a alarm clock. Any suggestions besides doing a factory reset? I am debating on if we should just take it back to the store.
