2.2 unofficial ?

Finally deciding not to wait for 2.2 official to come out. Ive been searching but cant really find whats all the hype with 2.2 unofficial. If i do upgrade to 2.2 unofficial what are the pros and cons. Also whats the most stable and has the most eye candy rom available?

I really like the midNIGHT ROM series. It will require you to take the leap to EXT4 if you want to stay current. I have also used the Viper ROM and its pretty nice (but I like midNIGHT more).

It's a different file system than what comes stock on the phone that can help improve the speed of the phone by 25% or better. You can think of it as comparing FAT32 to NTFS. It's one draw back seems to be random restarts, but I've only had it happen twice in the past 10 days.

Shane I use my phone for work as well when I'm out the office need phone to be reliable do u think its worth it? Don't want to be on a important call when all of sudden my phone restarts

There are pluses and minuses. The 2 restarts I had was on midNIGHT 3.0. Since I've been on 3.1 on Saturday, I have not had a single issue. You might want to try the rfs version of midNIGHT 2.8 if you want to get your feet wet with it. Otherwise 3.1 is a nice version, but for your use, you would probably want to add the fix for voice search that is also on the lost and tired page. It' a flashable zip installable through CWM3.0.

Try it on a weekend...or when you are off...if your relying on your phone..stable or not, no reason to take risks...but you should definitely try a custom rom..even if it is just to get a feel for the options..

I'll agree with gten, try it when you don't need to rely on your phone.

I'll give you the some advantages of the Froyo custom roms. I've never used stock Froyo. They are all slimmer and faster than stock DI18. Flash works way better. Then there's all the advantages that go with rooting.

Disadvantage: Not quite as stable as what you would get with a released rom. I've also heard there is some issue with voice dialing over bluetooth, but never use it myself. I'm sure someone else in here can say for sure.
