Re: Brick! Brick! Heimdall vs Odin

I'm hoping it's a battery issue. It was less than 50% when I started this journey(I know, should have charged to 100%.)

Now it's probably close to dead and I have no way to charge it. I read a few threads where people were getting Odin failures with low/dead batteries, and once they put in a fully charged one, it worked.

I just have to wait until I can find a charging dock or battery locally, or use my Friends Captivate battery when We're both at work Wednesday.

Not sure how that works because if you put it in download mode and connect to the PC, you can Pull the battery and the Phone stays on.
Maybe it just can't flash without the Battery Power?

I bought on ebay an external battery charger + 2 batteries for around 7$-8$...well worth it...

Every time I use Odin I do it with the battery out. The usb cable should provide the necessary power to turn on the phone in download mode. Maybe your usb cable got damaged.

Thanks for this post! I was going to try the cable after getting a charged battery, but just went to Best buy and bought a New Cable.

Successful Odin flash on the first try! I guess mine somehow went bad.

Thanks for all the Help!

Glad you got it working. Those USB cables go bad all the time and I have seen several people here who have had the stock USB cable that came with the phone go bad. Its good to have a spare handy.

Now I have Dk28 working with broken gps? I went to stock di18 then to dk28 but still no gps.

Dk17 is the only one that my gps had worked on.

I've seen a few posts talking about flashing ROM "X" that has a working GPS and then going outside and getting a GPS lock, then flashing ROM "Y" and going outside and getting a GPS lock, before going to ROM "Z". Apparently getting a GPS lock on a ROM that you know has a working GPS helps carry that GPS functionality over to the next ROM. I've never had any problems with my GPS so I can't really comment on whether or not this works, but like I said, I have read several posts where others have had success using this method.

Unfortunately I've tried Di18, Dk17 and DK28 and can't get gps to lock in either of them!

How long have you had it? If its less than 30 days I'd flash it back to stock DI18 and take it back to Sprint. Unless of course you have insurance, then you can take it back and tell them to fix it or give you a new one (I'd still flash it back to DI18 first though).

Didn't by it at sprint. Craigslist brand new $200.

Got a lock on dk17! All is good. Thanks again!
