The Android-Wifi-Tether uses Ad-Hoc connection..so your devices need to support that..as for USB tether..if your talking about the android-usb-tether? that one needs a modified kernel...

Things you can try:

Adding MobileAP (make sure to clockworkmod backup before trying)
See if the Froyo USB Tether works (I'm assuming your on froyo)
PDAnet (The free version though does not support HTTPS though)

How has detection been on this front? Anyone seen their bill spike that tethers either wirelessly or via cable?

Has the new Froyo leaks been tested yet for this?

Sorry for hijacking the thread!

No bill spike...all the methods I mentioned above should work with froyo..except I have not tried MobileAP yet..I'm typing this right now tethering with Android-Wifi-Tether on Froyo

Re: can't tether at all

I'll try the "ad hoc" thing later.
I've seen iPad users connect with wi-fi tether on youtube.

Just use the MobileAP method and you should have no problems...

I think what going on is that it using N for adhoc wifi which the ipad does not support....so you'll have to get clockwork :/..if not you can "probably" install it via ADB push as well :/
