Like I said in another thread, I got the best battery life ever yesterday, 8am to midnight with it complaining about the battery around 9pm. |

Like others, I turn everything (BT, WIFI, 4G, GPS) off. I turn off automatic sync and auto data, I even turn off automatic time sync. I have the brightness set to zero. I have a strong signal (well, on my evo and tp2 it is 5 to 6 bars, but on the Epic in the same spot it is 3 to 4 bars, but still strong). The only automatic widget I use is Beautiful colck & weather and I have it set to update every two hours. I can squeeze out between 10 and 14 (MAX) hours based on how little I use it. That's with a few 10 minute calls, a half dozen texts and a half dozen email sync's, average of about 1.5 hours of total screen on time. The exact same usage (only with brighter screen settings and GPS & BT on) and the tp2 has 60% to 70% remaining and the Evo has about 50%, the Epic is dead. I love the phone (much faster than tp2 and I need a KB), but man the battery is killing me. Basically, the end of the day is when I'm most likely to be in a situation to need the phone and that is when it is dead. I spend the entire day worrying about the battery, so much so that I'll look at the screen before turning it on and think about whether this is a worthy time to use the power to turn on the phone or should I wait. When I look at my usage, it's 60% display, and the rest is mostly split between Voice calls, Cell standby & Phone idle. I do the trick to cycle airplane mode to reduce time without signal (known problem, even in strong signal areas) and that works, my time without signal is 0 to 2%. Rant off, sorry, just when I see statements like yours (especially from a well respected member) I get frustrated. I am happy that you get such good batter life, I just wish I could figure out how. Thank you |

Yes, the main battery indicator is not accurate (it's set to round up), the camera battery indicator is more accurate.

Re: My Thoughts of the Epic after a week
i get amazing battery life as well ... all day with normal use & battery meter has a small dent in it ... i dont use any other type of indicator ... they will suck the life out of batteries as i learned on my evo .. i havent even installed any market apps which is not going to last forever i just hope that doesnt effect battery when i do ... i remember when i got my evo it was my first android device so i went app happy & i know something had to of effected the battery life & before half my workday was over id be down to 30% .... ive also stayed away from atk & use stock task manager which is keeping me happy & things smooth

Re: My Thoughts of the Epic after a week
Speaking of speed reception..
TP2 with 3g Epic with 3g: Epic with 4g (2 bars) One thing I found funny though is when I place my phone horizontally I get 1 bar of 4g..when I place it vertically I get 2 bars...wth..lol |

Re: My Thoughts of the Epic after a week
Last weekend I did my 1st test on 4g approx. 2200 hrs (2bar) 1.61 Mb's DL. Again in the same place with 2 bars again and got 6.5 Mb's DL. So it looks like it depends on the volume of traffic and what time you do your testing. I live in the country and almost get 2bars 3g at best. I found a good way to save battery is when I get home. I turn on the wifi for the data connect rather than use the 3g connection which will use more juice for my hourly updates. I love my TP2, but I love this phone more. Very happy with Touch Wiz 2.5 (with ADW Launcher loaded) and Android 2.1. I understand that 2.2 for the EVO has BT voice command now. So maybe when we get our update the same will be true.
