Yes the data gov is in place. To many problems without it. v2.6 is the last build to include cw2.5 in the recovery. Going forward it will be CW3 and ext4 only. So yes if you get into the old recovery you can flash the old zips

3) What are your thoughts of the jornaling off mod? It is supposed to give EXT4 a 15% boost, at the increase of data loss
I guess I don't really have any thoughts one way or the other. It was a tweak mammon used in the base rom and it seems to work very well.

4) Whats the best way to backup data and apps coming from an older midNIGHT before EXT4? Titanium, mybackup, sprite, or thru recovery?

There is no recommended data back up app for the RFS ext4 transition. You can try what ever you want to try and it may work just fine. Just keep in mind that your on your own if you do this. You will most likely have problems including FC's...or it may work just fine. It's just one of those things you have to try to find out.

I have been all over the net over the past 3 days to try and get the best understanding of these new upgrades. Thanks to all who assist, Im sure others will have similar questions.

Install video up for Root w/CW3 and EXT4. Also includes flashing v2.6 as well. Click on Android Development...

No nand problems on this phone. Plus it has a coffee maker. No toothbrush or dog walking ap though

I give up. I've tried for three days to get the MakeMyCoffee zip to flash. First I oodled (early version of Odin) back to Windows Mobile 5.0 but can't find my stylus. So now I'm stuck with an Epic that thinks it's a Blackjack. OS sucks but I get great battery life. My wife just told me to walk away from the forum and function. I told her "it's ok, this forum is cheaper than crack and doesn't cause pimples". Not sure she bought it. Anyway, maybe I do need to walk away. All because of that dang coffee app.
