Re: midNIGHT ROM DK28 (Froyo) v2.2 EXT4 12/29/2010

Ok, So I took a hint from Darren and used "ADB Reboot Recovery" and it went into the .2 clockworkmod. I installed Swype from there and now it works.

So, How do I disable the old clockwork? Can I boot into clockwork recovery without turning the phone off and back on again with the Vulcan mind meld grip? I know I can do the ADB route but I won't always have a computer/cable handy.

Thanks!

Have you tried Rom Manager to see if it boots you into proper recovery?

if not...you can use Android Terminal app..

Type:

su

reboot recovery

it should be equivalent to "ADB reboot recovery"

For me Rom Manager boots to old recovery but Quickboot boots to new. Terminal app reboots to new recovery.

Quickboot (Free) did the trick. Thanks to both your replies!

Some may be using the first version of the rom which didn't have quickboot.

Re: midNIGHT ROM DK28 (Froyo) v2.2 EXT4 12/29/2010

I just got back from JC Penny my second pair of big boy pants. The first pair got soiled when I thought I had bricked my phone. I Odin'ed back to DI18 and when I went to ODIN DK28 it said something about invalid hash and invalid MD5 file. So, I figured, OK my SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 is corrupt, I'll just download it again and try this tomorrow. So as I was using Odin to flash the DK28 modem back in order to restore my old ROM I pushed back from my computer desk and the USB cable caught in the wheel of my chair, pulled the phone off the desk and pulled the cable out of the phone while the modem flash was only halfway thru. (minor soiling of big boy pants) I immediately tried to re-flash the DI18 stock but Odin hung at "connecting".... I had done the impossible.....I bricked an Epic. (finish soiling pants...time for a break)

After returning from the aforementioned trip to JC Penny, my new pants and I went back to where it had all gone so wrong. I reflashed the Dk28 modem and it worked. I was able to restore midNIGHT 2.1.1. and I am now patiently downloading SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 all over again. I hope this time it works.

Re: midNIGHT ROM DK28 (Froyo) v2.2 EXT4 12/29/2010

OK, I downloaded SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 again and when I load it into the PDA field in Odin it says "MD5 hash value is invalid" "SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 is invalid"

WTF?
