Re: [RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery for the Epic 4g! Permament Method! FINAL!

drivers dont seem to install correctly for me. Setup.exe works fine. I just get an error after plugging in the phone. The device shows up under "unspecified" yet it shows D700. Weird.

I notice they are both x64 links for the drivers. I am running 64 bit but wanted to try and root on my roomates 32 bit.

I'll modify that in a minute..while you can find 32bit drivers in the Epic 4g Wiki.

Also for 64bit, when you plug it in are you in debug mode? and does it start installing drivers?

Yes I am in debug mode, and yes it shows the drivers installing. Takes forever then finally gets the red X and says error installing.

Re: [RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery for the Epic 4g! Permament Method! FINAL!

here's a screenshot. I left it sitting there for 30 minutes to install the driver and i had to go to work so i had to unplug it finally.

I think it would just sit there forever saying "Installing Driver" with the box and the little green circle animation on it...

With your device plugged in go into device manager and click to install the driver and then pick manually browse..its in the USB Drivers\16_Shrewsbury folder of the extracted drivers.

Can you tell a big difference with the custom ROMs and do you lose Samsung Widgets with custom?

If the rom has TouchWiz/Stock then you can use Samsung widgets...if its ASOP then no.

Each custom rom details changes..like some overclock to 1.4ghz..others just preload apps such as Youtube HD and wifi tether and remove sprint bloatware.
