(just fyi, I'm a dba/systems engineer for a vbulletin forum with nearly 17 million posts, and 700,000 users, plus other mysql databases as well)

Can you give me an explain on that query?

Simply run it through mysql with "explain" tacked on the beginning before the select.

That will tell me everything I need to know.

I think a donations drive should be started. I searched around and found that there is a WAP module for vB so we wouldn't lose out on that. Working on the RSS issue...

yea I found one also thats fully functional but doesnt work to swell with the newest vB 3.6.7 PDA Version I found. Theres gonna be alot of dead links that are going to need to be changed if we do indeed convert over and we will probably lose the PPC cash and rep points.......and the wiki uses phpbbs database for users. Also gotta find a nice looking theme for vB.

Well, then, no PPC cash=no vBulletin. Without PPC cash my life is worthless!

Ok...RSS feed is back online with a few modifications. You can only get 100 feeds per hour. This should greatly reduce server load on that end. Let's see if it helps any. Let me know if anyone runs into any problems.

I think I'm going to get rid of that annoying "Your message has been posted" screen and reduce some more server load plus upgrade the downloads list which is in desperate need of some pagination

I would definitely put $5 towards the site migrating to vBulletin. I also have a friend who owns a server hosting company and gets me deals on hosting. PM Me if you are interested in a quote and I'll go see what he can do.
