Re: Thinking about the Omnia

The really annoying thing is that you can't even activate an off-contract smartphone unless you get the data plan. Since I moved to the Droid I now have my old Omnia that I would have given to my brother, but he doesn't want a data plan, and there's no way around it. Ultra lame if you ask me.

And all of the carriers do this now? BTW, thanks for listening to my rant and letting me know what's going on. Much appreciated.

No problemo. If any of us help - just click the "Thanks" button. =D>

Re: Thinking about the Omnia

Hi everyone,
First post here, so please be kind. My i910 via ebay is on the way and I have been reading up.

Regarding the required data, my plan is to activate via pageplus and the 1200min/1200txt prepaid plan I have been reading about (for weeks) on slickdeals - it also includes 50meg of data but I am on wifi enough I didn't want to fork out the extra $30/mo for no reason. I guess you could say the data is "required" but 50meg isn't enough to do much.
Depeche

Re: Thinking about the Omnia

Yes, the i910 is an older phone, but I have to say that the 28xxx builds of WinMo 6.5 make it much faster and a LOT more touch friendly.

From a hardware standpoint its still got plenty of power and the 16GB micro SD isn't bad either.

If you just want something to play with and don't want a long contract, then yes eBay is the way to go. Even at $50, I don't think I'd want to lock into a two year on an Omnia when Win7 will be out midway through your contract.
