Locate Me, Bing, CF03, and YOU!

I see some getting it to work, allegedly. I see many more, myself included, not able to.

Whats the definitive answer on this?

Re: Locate Me, Bing, CF03, and YOU!

I had it find me earlier. Knew what street I was on better than Google Maps...BUT, the map didn't render several times I tried, so all is not so great. But like many of us slackers, it can work when it wants to.

I'll try again on my way home. I'll repost later if it worked or failed again.

Re: Locate Me, Bing, CF03, and YOU!

I got Bing to locate me but not until the following sequence:
1. Load Google Maps (yes, Google), aGPS finds me in ~0.5 secs
2. GPS sats find me and move me about 500 yards very accurately roughly 20 secs later
3. Close Google and open Bing select Maps then Locate Me and there I am

If I just load Bing on its own it won't find me in time before it errors out and apparently won't use the aGPS value.

I know it tries...but then it gives up. Gmaps has a full on lock with me.

I wonder if its just certain areas that it works better in.

Re: Locate Me, Bing, CF03, and YOU!

I updated to the CF03 ROM and the first program I added was Google Maps. It finds my (general location) quickly, I assume being aGPS. It then says at the top "Seeking GPS Satellites (0)". I was outside and in a clear area, after a while it comes up saying weak GPS signal. Any idea how to get this to work? I never upgraded to the CC20 ROM, so this is my first trial at GPS. Thanks

Go into settings. Under the Personal tab select phone then goto the services tab and pick GPS. Change the setting from 911 Only to Location on and soft-reset.

Re: Locate Me, Bing, CF03, and YOU!

last night i went out on my deck after flashing to the new official rom and got a sat fix in 5 minutes about with google.

today, I flashed to Adrynalynes cf03 6.1 rom and kept getting GPS signal weak, even though I was outside on the deck again. I kept hitting retry, they it started telling me I didn't have a GPS, I did a soft reset and then it worked, though it still took about 5 minutes to lock

the tower based locks on real quick.

Re: Locate Me, Bing, CF03, and YOU!

the locate me on Bing seems to be working fine also, though it is showing the next town over, but I'm close enough that if it is using tower info to base that on, it would make sense.
