The Omnia comes with WMP and Touch Player installed. Neither one of them do things perfect but they are usable. The nice thing with Windows Mobile there are usually quite a few options. They range from free to commercial.

Commercial programs can be CorePlayer, Pocket Player and many others.

Freeware can be S2P, Media Center for Windows Mobile, TCPMP and many others.

The software forum here has lots of different programs that should meet all of your needs.
Thanks man... good lookin out

my coworker has an omnia and we flashed your ROM(s) to it... Thats my reason for wanting to make the switch back to WinMo... the 6.5 stuff is coming along nicely!

No problem. I think you will like the Omnia. I know I do.

Glad to know your coworker likes the ROM. Hope to see you here soon.

Re: I Think I'm Coming Back...

I absolutely love my Omnia. Im not going to lie though, the sample video clip that played on my brother's Storm was a lot more vibrant than the way my Omnia plays videos, but other than that the Omnia has it beat, hands down. And video still plays really good on it, especially with Core player. I never watch movies on tv, I hate it for some reason, I only watch them on my phone. I love being able to watch a movie wherever I am.

As far as the battery, I carry a spare battery with me everywhere, and I have a charger that charges the phone and a spare battery at once so the spare is always charged. So my battery does die quickly, but I get push exchange email from my job all day, and use gps, install new stuff, literally play all day with my phone. My internet connection must be literally running nonstop all day, considering the things that I use it for. So keep that in mind, its hard for me to compare it to other phone's battery life because this is the first smartphone I ever had. I had the Dare before, but you cant do anything on that but talk and take pics, so I would barely use it.

Things just got better now that we have ROMs that unlocked the gps, and Adrynalyn found this little program that has helped alot of us get better and faster locks on it now. On top of that, now VZnav works on the leaked and cooked ROMS (it didnt before), so if you are stuck somewhere where you really need assisted gps, you have that as an option.

I love my phone, but then again, I bought it months ago. It's kind of past it's prime, I wouldn't blame you if you went for the Omnia 2 or something. I do not regret getting the Omnia though, and I plan to keep it at least another year.

these are the things i was looking for! Thanks!

As for the Omnia 2... i don't get a discount on new phones since i have employee pricing, so i'm just looking for someone to trade my storm for an omnia with. So yeah, i really don't lose anything

You're welcome! Let me know if there is anything else you want to know, I am not the most tech savy person here (not by a long shot lol) but I can help you out if you have questions about the user experience in general.

Re: I Think I'm Coming Back...

If screen size is important, as it is to me, I would think the Omnia 2 would be something to plan for. I like my Omnia, but will dump it fast for a newer larger screen version.

I came from the 6700 and 6800, so the sound of the speaker on the Omnia sounds really good to me after them.

Maybe you can let us know if you hear anything about the Omnia 2?

well i think we are looking for a launch this Q3 of the omnia 2... maybe closer to the end tho? like september? Probably because we should be getting the Storm2, TP2 and an Android Based phone (i pray its the HTC Hero) around christmas.. not to mention the palm pre in january. If they released the Omnia2 with all those phones, it would be a maaad overload lol...

I work for an indirect agent, (even have a pool table in the back of my store lol), but to tell you what, the people who work at the local corporate store are freakin braindead, i always have to guide them through EVERYTHING. I walk in and talk to this guy who thinks he's a hot-shot, ask him about the TP2 and he goes "What??? There's a 2nd Version coming out??" They know very very little, as alot of you may know, so i like to talk to the tech-reps who support us agents. They get a good piece of info once ina while (although i do get the "i dunno" quite a bit)

Re: I Think I'm Coming Back...

Well the phone is your choice, Iv never used an Omnia so I cant compare, but the screen size looks nice. Me personally Im waiting on the Diamond 2 before I upgrade.

But as far as WMP fuctionality goes, I dont like It. But I LOVE Coreplayer, I highly reccomend it for all your audio and video needs.
