Omnia recalled?

Had a buddy from work tell me he ordered a Omnia last week from Verizon HQ and they called him the next day and said they couldn't fill his order because they have no Omnias in stock because of a recall. I asked him WTF? And he replied is was a screen issue they told him?!?!?!

What's wrong with the screen? I could see a OS upgrade, possibly a heat issue maybe even a upgrade to a new rom release but a screen?!?

I doubt it is actually happening. It is still available on line.

Re: Omnia recalled?

Possibly the update is coming and they were recalled to load the new software? Wishful thinking...

Re: Omnia recalled?

I had an omnia replaced due to a section on the lower left of the screen getting warped. The one i got was fine, but just recently i noticed it has now warped too.. the screen looks fine, but the touch/digitizer seems to get damaged by the heat from the connector.. So soon i will either return this one or ask for a new one.

Re: Omnia recalled?

I'm not questioning the responces but this guy doesn't really care about phones the way we do, so I don't beleive he would fabricate this information. SO if the source is Verizon HQ why would they fall for a hoax?

In the end I guess it doesn't really matter....but it stuck me as odd?

Re: Omnia recalled?

I also heard from Verizon that the difference between the 29.99 data plan and the 44.99 one is that you can tether with the 44.99 plan, and Wireless Sync is free for any data plan.

My point?

Verizon reps don't know whats up and whats down, most of the time. They regurgitate what they see and hear and thats it. Accountability for what they say is not something that falls within their guidelines.

This is so true. Verizon reps have made up so many stories for me. LOL. Once they double charged me for a phone my husband bought and tried to tell me it was actually my "past due" bill. No matter how many times I told that rep my bill was not past due, she inisisted. I asked her how come my bill was the exact same amount as a new phone. Still no luck. She got nasty and told me she was going to shut off my service for being past due. I finally got her to send me to her supervisor who apologized of course and told me he would take care of her. That was just one example of them not knowing what they are doing.

Re: Omnia recalled?

yea, I was told that with the $44.99 data plan I could tether, then I called for help and they told me it would cost another $14.99 a month. Wasn't about to pay $60 a month for cellular internet, so I just flashed to Adryn's 6.5 rom....now I can tether...hehe.

Re: Omnia recalled?

I would use Akaums razor with this story. There don't appear to be any big screen issues in any of the threads that I've read re the Omnia. Nothing in reviews, nothing anywhere. I doubt there's anything related with the screen. Verizon is way too cheap to spend the money on a problem that none of us have heard a lot about.

The ROM update, on the other hand, is a perfect answer to this question. All over the web, supposed to be any day now, people and Verizon and Samsung have hinted about it.

All in all the story is probably BS - but if a recall is true - it's software related.
