Re: Custon ROM GPS

Seanosaurus, Ive installed the newest beta version of GPSToday, but Im having trouble figuring out what to do. I cant figure out what to press to get it to find me on a map. If you have a moment, can you give us some tips? Thanks a lot for your help!

Edit: Ok, I figured that part out, and I like it, but of course just my luck it is messing with my pocketshield program. It switched it from the theme I had to the main earth one (the one that says "slilide to unlock" lol). When I try to go to change back the theme in pocketshield, I get an error now. I love them both, I cant choose, help!

GPSToday has a background mode that runs at around 700k so battery drain should not be an issue.

what you'll want to do in order to get the initial fix is tap and drag the satellite icon at the bottom over to either the stopwatch or map icon. after that, a green dot should appear next to the satellite. the means that it is searching for satellites. tapping the stopwatch will let you select the fix interval.

as far as pocketshield goes, i'm not familiar with that program so i wouldn't be the most qualified person when it comes to fixing it. my best suggestion would be to uninstall and reinstall.

Re: Custon ROM GPS

You were right, I actually uninstalled both and reinstalled them last night after I posted this, and now there seem to be no issues. Thank you for all the help, this program does seem to help get my gps running a lot faster. Just out of curiosity, what do you keep the minute intervals set to? And you just choose "Background Mode" in the Options menu, right, and leave it like that all day?

I set my interval to 30 minutes most of the time just because i don't usually use the GPS. When I know I'll use it, i set it to 1 minute.

About background mode, you're absolutely right.

Thanks bud, I will! I actually am testing out s2u2 right now, trying to decide which one I like better. Pocketshield works flawlessly, but s2u2 is prettier...

Re: Custon ROM GPS

I still can't get the GPS to work. I've changed the phone settings from 911 to Location On and I've changed the baud rate in google maps to com8 and 57600. I've also downloaded GPS today and dragged the satellite over the map and went outside and stood there for about 8 minutes trying to get a lock on either and I had no luck.

I live in NYC so there are big buildings around, could that be the reason? Do I just give up hope on the GPS?

Aslo - unrelated (sort of) but anyone know why google maps works well with the blazing wolf 6.5 (keyboard able to type) but doesn't work with Adryn 6.5?

for the initial lock, obstructions (buildings, trees etc) will slow down progress.

Yeah you live in a concrete jungle, it will take awhile with all those buildings. If you live near central park I would go try there!
