Flashing Issues!!! UMDL

What UMDL version are you guys using? I have 2.3 and it is not detecting my phone after following instructions. I don't know why I have to be the village idiot but I unchecked the box in active syn on the pc where it says allow usb connections.... I set the syn to mass storage in the usb connections settings on the phone and I turn the phone off. Mind up, I have backed-up everything and completed a hard reset without setting up the phone again(*22. I connect the phone while it is turned off to my laptop after loading the image file and clicking detect.. but nothing happens. All I see is the battery icon indicating that the phone is charging. I do not know what I am doing wrong... Can someone shed some light on this. I am just happy I haven't bricked my phone.

Re: Flashing Issues!!! UMDL

You have installed the drivers for the phone before attempting to flash, right? If you're on Vista (and possibly XP) all you need to do is plug in the phone. You need to uncheck "USB Mode" on the phone's settings to install the drivers this way, let that finish, then go through the flashing process.

Re: Flashing Issues!!! UMDL

I had to restart my phone about 10 times to get it to register with UMDL 2 flashes ago. I changed NOTHING on the phone, or the comp, it just wouldn't recognize the phone then finally did.

Re: Flashing Issues!!! UMDL

did you push the power button after hooking it to the usb cable to turn it back on? i dont see that part in your post... it wont turn the phone on for ya.. you have to do it...
disregard if you already kno that part...
But i have had mine not see the phone 4 or 5 times b4.. i just had to restart my pc and it would work... seems to happen if i flash too many times between restarts of the pc...

Re: Flashing Issues!!! UMDL

Thanks to everyone who gave advice. I have successfully flashed to the cc20/adrlyn's 6.1 v1.6 rom.... It feels good to be free!

*** I know what I was doing wrong now... After I connected my phone and held down the power button for 3 secs to turn it on. it wasn't really turned on for some reason. I had to hit the power button again for it to actually turn on and see the omnia screen. It didn't register until I noticed that the battery screen is the same charging battery screen when you power the phone off. Well, anyway, that was my duhhh moment!

Re: Flashing Issues!!! UMDL

A little late but... when the phone is off, and you hold the power on button then get the "charging battery" thingy, hit the power button once more to actually fully power up the phone. UMDL should recognize it then.

Re: Flashing Issues!!! UMDL

OK THIS IS HOW I GOT IT TO WORK!

after hitting search, plug in phone while powered off, then press and hold button for a few seconds to turn on, then you see the charging battery sign, then use your stylus or a paperclip and hit the reset pin by the power button, the UMDL will instantly recognize it and start your download. SUCCESSS!!!!

Re: Flashing Issues!!! UMDL

Make sure you use USB 2.0, anything slower will make a wonderful paperweight.
