Re: File Complaint with FTC against Verizon for locking GPS on Omina (& other phones)
I continue to read these posts with hope. When I can I hop on and read some more about flashing the phone. I was going to buy the i900 but was informed (actually my wife, i'm in afghanistan right now) that it would not work on the verizon network. I have been looking at world phones for a while but the i900 was the only one that I really liked and was willing to pay for.
My wife got me this i910 since when I get stationed back home i'll be there for a couple of years and it wouldn't matter if it was GSM capable anyways. I just hope that the features orginally intended for this phone are activated by the time I get back. By then Verizon would have moved on to there new line of phones and might give us what we want to keep us, and keep us quite. |

I would like to thank you for risking your life to fight these crazy freak radicals that feel Americans must all die. I just cant believe that we helped them to fight Russia awhile back. Oops. Ther is a couble sites you can look at but you can start by clicking on the picture of the omnia up top and click on the rom section. The cc20. Its different than the other cooked roms to flash.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=69628 WOULD BE NICE TO GET SOME DONATIONS TOGETHER TO GET YOU ONE SENT OVER THERE. Flashed already and loaded with pictures of Home to remind you what you your there for. Both my brothers served time there. Come home safely. I was wondering do most afgans appriciate what you are doing for them. Edit: Is the omnia 910 even have world capabilities i don't believe it does. Might have to go with well good luck and let me know cause i hate the black berry storm. I think world phones have an extra gsm radio in them to use those towers. Cdma and such might be in some countries but idk about Afghanistan. |

*rant on*
from a purely pragmatic point of view, we have a solution to the problem already. while i agree that vzw crippled the omnia, azintegra gave us a way around it. to my way of thinking it's a win for all of us who want our phones as good as they can be. personally, i like to tinker, and my omnia is just like my harley, a blank canvas ready to be turned into what my vision of my phone should be. as far as the lawsuit thingy goes, i find today's folks way too litigious for my taste. if you don't like what vzw is doing take your dollars away from them, simple as that. all our lives would be better off with less lawyers and more personal responsibility. *rant off* |

I confess i did intend to make thread to go sidways. It should be takin down. Verizon is doing nothing illeagle. Alread typed a longer version but forgot to post. but Unless some one can post a lynk to a advertisement stating you can use 3rd party apps with the gps on the verizon sch-i910 than it does have gps you just had to pay. Considering its not illeagle than fcc complaint may delay it further. Better to complain directly to verizon.
I do say if somebody can find writtian proof of any thing that verizon did wrong than if its not to late please provide it so ther can be somthing to go off of. |
