Sorry about your mother. Most doctors are idiots. 2 actual years of book knowledge and 2 years of following another doctor around the hospital mimicking everything he or she does is not my idea of a person qualified to treat the very ill. With the use of nanotechnology, hopefully we can reduce to number of idiots working on people and actually heal and cure diseases instead of concealing the symptoms. Xray cameras will be on cell phones in the near future.

Well that was a long, pointless post. Anyway, the Touch Pro ROM upgrade was released yesterday (too bad it still sucks compared to the Sprint version), so hopefully they'll hook us up soon.

Edit - you can't get TomTom or Garmin software for free, legally of course, but there are many, many free options, and if you do buy Garmin or TomTom's software, etc, there are no monthly fees. The point is, quit playing the Devil's advocate, and your arguments make no sense.

You got me wrong. I am part of a labor union ILWU. Look up our history. we would sacrifice our lives for each and we have and for what. Cutting cost increase proffits is like a big sloppy pile of poo and it always rolls down hill. So want in one hand poo in the other and see wich fills up first. I can tell you all my stances on corporate america but that would be even longer. I Do like verizon but i do see them as what they are. A company trying to make money off me. Your point about the garman thing well a small point at that. Ther is ways to get free gps. I posted an option on this site check it out. Or look up Free gps on google. That includes programs that wont tax you for data. wich cost money.alot of people on this site want it. But garmon does not have to give away any thing. Just like VERIZON IS NOT DOING ANY THING ILLEAGLE . Maybe just a little shady but who isn't these days. and there is no regulations that requires free gps to the masses. about the long post but My main point besides the fact that its not illeagle is that There is other things to worry about right now and we already have what we want. SO pick your contract with the phone carriers wisely before you get a phone. . I sware i must be an ignerant fool cause i see it no other way. I really wish honestlly and i am not being a smarty pants. Pleas rip apart every thing i wrote and throw it in my face. I am not afraid to be wrong. I have an open mind. You wont hurt my fellings.

It is kinds like arguing that Burger King is broiling the patty you want fried....you know what your getting from them when you walk in. Just because AT&T has open GPS doesn't mean VZW will.

All that aside though, this is also either currently or will soon be a moot point for most. VZW has already promised to unlock the GPS in the first half of 2009 (we'll see, should be soon if they do it), but even if they don't, there are ROM chefs out there that are already releasing fully operational GPS ROMs (like my Omnia running WM6.5 and has GPS working).

Good luck, and I would never discourage anyone from speaking out on what they think is right, but I really think it won't amount to much.

Burger King does advertise "flame broiled" burgers so you know they do not fry them. VZ advertised GPS included but was very vague on how the GPS only operates with their app. And yes technically, the phone had gps but with a reduction in functionality that they to not relay to the consumer upon purchasing the phone. Considering GPS services are 98% free, it is a given people will believe since the specs in the VZ store state internal GPS receiver that they can use it as any other normal gps. Trust me, they did not tell me you have to "pay to play" else I probably would've stayed with sprint and bought the Treo Pre.

I know nanotechnology in medicine is at least 10 years away. I would say x-ray on cell phones is about 4 or 5 years away(if that). Engineers/scientists want to treat and destroy viruses when they began. They are making progress every few weeks but it is a while before it can become mainstream. Then they will probably have to fight the drug companies b/c they are the wizards behind the entire medical field. I am a software engineer and I always thought it was weird that we can come up with theorems to measure the size of our galaxy and use math to create things such as wireless technology, gps, artificial intelligence and artificial neural networks but we cannot eradicate illnesses like cancer and other diseases. I wish you a quick and speedy recovery with your surgery!

It's locked in the radio software, so, probably not.

Oh ye of little faith.

Mine's unlocked, no thanks to VZW.

Right, but you've flashed the CC20 ROM (and subsequently Adrynaline's 3.6 WM6.5 ROM), which includes the radio update to unlock the GPS. And technically it is thanks to VZW (in a sense), since one of their employees leaked the beta ROM to allow us to upgrade our phones.
