Re: Samsung Omnia on Alltel network
Oh, I took it in to Alltel last week. The rep there, checked it out, thought it was neat that I was running Verizon phone on Alltel, checked the settings and said everything looked right. That said, it still won't connect. There is not a Verizon store near me, but as soon as I get near one, I'm gonna take it in and see if they can help me. Or maybe even take it to a Sprint store and see if they'd like to help me "get over" on the competition, lol.

what was meant by gruven98 is that you actually need to contact Alltel tech support via their 1-800 number, because store reps also know jack squat about most of the stuff they sell. Verizon cannot help you because you are not a Verizon customer.

Re: Samsung Omnia on Alltel network
BTW sprint currently and has no plans on allowing phones to transfer INTO their network from another outside network.

Re: Samsung Omnia on Alltel network
Hipkik, hghlander, any luck? hghlander, when you say you can't get data with #777, do you mean you just can't teather but you get data on the phone itself just fine? If you get data on the phone can you tell me exactly how you did this. I've been scouring the internet, I want an Omnia but for various reasons I'm stuck with alltel, I can live without teathering but not without data on the phone, lol. PLEASE, I'm begging, help me, lol.

Re: Samsung Omnia on Alltel network
I would like to get the Omnia, but I have talked to Alltel and they told me they can't/won't let me use the Omnia on their network.
I would be happy if I could just get the phone to work for now, as I will be switching to Verizon when they finish the transfer and I can get data then. If I can make even just the phone work on Alltel for now, PLEASE let me know how!! What do I tell the people at the Alltel store to get them to connect it, or what can I do myself to connect it?? And BTW, I need step by step directions.... I am an old man who grew up with rotary phones... if you don't know what they are, you can see them in museums!!! LOL!! THANKS!!! |

Before activating, dial *228 and see if it says "over the air programming" (mine said verizon). If not, try *22800/01/02/03/04/05/06/07/08/09 until one says "over the air programming". It doesn't say alltel, anymore, and I haven't seen anyone else post about it. Call 800-alltel1, support (3 I think), I think there's another step after but it should be obvious. Give them the esn (a000 something or other). Hopefully, they won't ask for the model (I don't lie). If they give you crap and/or you don't want to lie, just hang up and try later. When you're on the phone with them, they'll tell you to dial *228. Use whichever number said "over the air programming" earlier (just don't tell them that you're doing that). They say to hit 3, but it's actually 1. After they hang up, *228 should work properly and you can do option 2 to update the roaming. Calls and text works fine. #777 doesn't. JJ |
