Question New Omnia user

Hey there, I'm new to the Omnia and new to this site. Im really not too computer savvy and im already having problems with the device. I tried to look through some threads to see what I could find. but now all im thinking is "wow what did i get myself into!" i really need your help guys, and i would eppreciate it if you were patient with me!!!

I will just stick with one problem to start out with.

I really dont get the file transfering when i plug my Omnia into my PC.
So i plug the omnia into the usb port on my pc. and when i bring up "my computer" it recognises it. But thats all. i click on the Omnia and it opens but nothing is in that folder? i would really like to know how to put songs on my omnia and also transfer photos off of it.

what is the activesync program? i tried to install all of the software from the cd that came with the phone. but i really dont know that im doing here...

as you can tell i need help!

You need to go into settings, click on the connections tab.
Choose USB connection Mode. Ensure it is selected for Activesync.
Then make sure that activesync on the computer is set up to connect via USB.
then unplug and replug in the omnia

Re: New Omnia user

Hey Brrad... welcome to the boards. you'll find a lot of help and knowledge here and don't be afraid to ask questions. these peeps here really like to help out. i have found that these boards are the friendliest.

First off are you running XP or Vista?

Second, did you buy an extra SD card for your omnia? if not, watch what you transfer to your omnia. space will get taken up quick.

When you open explorer, you should see a foler called "my documents". in there you should see a bunch of sub folders. one of them being "my music". that's where your tunes go and i would recommend mp3s since wav files take up too much space. (unless they're 30 sec ringtone clips)

You should also see a folder in there called "my pictures". that's where your photos should be.

hopefully this will get ya started with your concerns
