Re: My First Cooked Rom
I know I heard at least one other person mention it in the early postings. It doesn't take long before my Omnia gets to the point that I open an app through Shell and it will stay running for a few seconds to a half a minute, and then it will just close out like WM will do when too many apps are running at once. It started when I installed Shell 3, so I am thinking that has to be it!!

Adrynalyne,
I like the black look with the exception of the orange. I have to admit that i don't post, but i follow you and your tips (not stalking!) and I'm excited about your roms. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to future releases. Quote:

Re: My First Cooked Rom
I think I would use M2d. I like my today screen functional and while m2d has some things I don't like it's kinetic scrolling is definatly better then samsungs attempt. I'm kind of a purist and would like to keep what makes the Omnia, the Omnia but I dislike the choppy scrolling. I've been trying to decide what to try next. I have your .2 base and Wozzers m2d on my desktop. Base+m2d!

Re: My First Cooked Rom
Sounds like a plan then.
If everything works out, I hope to have 0.3 out in the next few days. Just tying up a few loose ends. I already have an idea how I want to make it. I should be able to cram M2D in there with a nice theme, and still have ~90-100mb free. Things I still need to work out: 1. Figure out why a couple of registry entries stick around even though they were deleted before building rom. 2. Remove welcome center, again. 3. Try to fix Wifi, again. 4. Finish customizing M2D, update it to latest Gmaps, and Google Youtube. 5. Remove non-English keyboards (Unless you guys want em?). 6. Other nice little touches. |

Re: My First Cooked Rom
Adrynalyne I find it curious that you recommend Resco Backup, which has no "Restore to New Rom (or Device)". Is it that the other two Backups do not reliably detect the change in apps (and registry) of new ROMs or that you just prefer clean installs after ROM changes?
The only reason I haven't purchased it yet is the lack of that option. I have been doing clean installs with the addition of PIM Backup for contacts, messaging, etc. I hope I'm not too far off topic. It's just with the different ROM versions (yours and others) it becomes a little tedious reinstalling. Ted

Re: My First Cooked Rom
xPos,
I don't really have a satisfactory answer there. I reccomend a clean install if there are significant changes in a rom when flashing. I choose Resco mainly because: 1. It will invalidate the integrity of the backup if there are big enough changes in the rom flash. 2. It is very quick. 3. It has incremental backups. SPB was nice, but I found it to be much less finger friendly, as well as the backups regularly failed for me on restoration. Resco seems to handle integrity verification quite well. |

Re: My First Cooked Rom
Adrynalyne, Thanks a lot for the cooked Rom's. Sure is nice to have an unlocked Omnia with tons of extra space. 1 question, what is the name of the program that enables the zoom function while viewing emails and text messages? I thought it was zoomer and downloaded it from the samsung-omnia site but get the error message that it was incompatible. Thanks again for all of the hard work. It's very much appreciated!!!
