yea.. but i meant being able to not have a verizon service and still use gps...

i know it isnt ideal for this phone, but could still be a neat project

I dont know that you need Verizon service. There are absolutely no places I can test if the gps works in a no signal area. All I know is that turning off the radio via flight mode turns off GPS too.

Can we test by switching esn's to another phone, then trying one of the GPS programs? That would effectively shut down cell and data traffic, but leave the radio turned on.

I don't know if it will work or not. I'm hoping it will. There is a chance though that some error status return from VZW will kill the GPS program.

You could also cut the etch to the antenna.

hmm, im in 3+ bars and it takes for ever and never locks :/
i use g maps com8 57600
yes i did turn location on

I have the same problem. My Gps works on a whim, when it feels like it. I am frustrated with it as well
