Greetings from Vermont - as we enter the second chapter of Spring - (following "Thaw"), it being "Mud Season"...! Anyone residing in these parts would surely understand.
Due in great part to a previous season's side effect... we have recentlly had to replace our XP desktop - and, since only VISTA units are being sold... that is what we got. Oh boy. I was of the impression that VISTA was to be "better" than XP. Well not only is the jury out on that one, but a few of the jurors are calling in sick! It seems that the new version/replacement for ActiveSync is NOT as easy to use as its name implies...! Although I can plug my Samsung Omnia i910 to the desktop, and can access my documents and photos, I can NOT sync my Contacts, Date Book/Calendar, or for that matter, Notes or Tasks. The tech support folks at Verizon were NOT very helpful, nor was anyone at Microsoft. Both, it seems are hip to playing the "blame game"... and not one is really willing to help. The nearest I can come to identifying the cause of what seems to be a blockage of some kind - is the Firewall... perhaps...?? When I connect, I get a message stating that I have errors. When I click for more information, I am told that AciveSync encountered a problem on the desktop. Oh, I can brouse the contents of my device, I just can not update my contacts list or my calendar schedule. Has anyone else had this issue... and gotten it resolved? I even tried to bipass the middleman, and connect using something like "Easy Sync" or Soti's "Pocket Controller".. but, just my luck... Neither will "sync". Has anyone else had such issues and figured out how to make this work...?? We are really kinda eager to correct the matter!!
