I wonder if this will work on the Omnia...the possibilities!!!!!

Samsung today announced "TouchWiz Connected Mobile Applications", a new platform for "rich connected mobile application" widgets that will run on Samsung’s lineup of TouchWiz touch-screen phones. Both developers and end users will be able create new widgets for the platform. Tools for professional developers will be available via the Eclipse IDE. Samsung will offer develeopers the opportunity to sell these third-party applications via a new Samsung Rich Connected Application storefront. Yahoo, Google and AccuWeather.com have already committed to launching widgets for the platform. In addition, Samsung plans to debut a web-based tool that will allow end users to create their own widgets based on user-specified RSS feeds, and possibly other custom content.

Are i910 users ever going to get an update to get the new widgets that have already come out?

I'm thinking it should come out with the GPS unlock VZW promised us. It would be logical to do it all in one shot....oh wait this is VZW we are talking about....scratch that!!!!

I am thinking at the update though!!

Hey A., I am curious to see what they look and operate like. Would these be the same widgets that were just released with the new updated Omnia in January?

Did you not try them because you don't use widgets or was it something else? Thanks.

They are the same widgets from the latest rom release.

Now, here is the not so fun part. They take an easy 15mb of space, and the uninstaller didn't work for me, so it was off to hard reset land w/ a backup restore.

But, I did take one for the team

1. did you try to uninstall it becasue the widgets did not work or you just did not like them at all?

2. when you indicate that the file is 15 mb's - gulp - you mean that it has to be installed on the device memory don't you? I only have 20 mb's left. that would be the death of me. If it is storage space, and they WORK, then no biggie. However, I doubt this is the case by your ominus delivery.
