Re: Data Plan
I was never told about any other data plan, and it doesn't even show up on my options when I look at my services. I don't use wireless sync so would love to save a few bucks. I will have to call them.

Re: Data Plan
When I went to the Vzw store to check stuff out before I signed this is what they told me
"29.99 is for personal email only, if you use business email you have to pay for the higher one" Ummm yea its personal email wink wink I just got tethering working on it too, no reason to pay for that stuff. |

Re: Data Plan
I got put on the $45 plan and after reading some of these threads called Vzw. The rep told be that exchange access required the $45 plan so I stayed (yes I'm stupid). After reading yet more I decided to just downgrade to the $30 plan and see what happened. I'm happily using as before. Activesync access to exchange server works just fine.
The confusion I believe always comes down to Vzw Wireless Sync service versus just accessing your organizations Exchange server directly with Activesync. |

Re: Data Plan
The $45 plan does not include tethering. You pay another $15 on top of the $45 for tethering. Tethering is not an option on the $29.99 plan and cannot be added to it. Hiding tethering is done by using a proxy on the phone so that all the requests for internet access look like they came from a program on the phone and not from outside the phone. Some programs you can use to tether are PDAnet, and ICS (install Activesync 4.5 on the computer to get the USB driver needed to make ICS work). Normally you would use the Verizon application to do tethering and with the $29.99 plan you can't. ICS is not installed and you have to find it and install it. After you install it you can use the usb cable or bluetooth to connect the phone to the lapton and use it as a modem.
As for the $45 vs $29.99 plan and Exchange Server and Wireless Sync. I only know that Wireless Sync is NOT include in the $29.99 plan. This does not matter if you set your phone up to get mail directly from a internet mail server such as a POP server. Or use a web based email account such as Yahoo. I have never used an exchange server so I do not know about those and Verizon. Monkymate |

Re: Data Plan
I have the $30 plan and cannot log into wirelss sync. Totally fine because I don't need to use it at all. How can I get my phone to stop trying to automattically sync? I get about 12 mms messages a day about my auto-syncing being suspended and I'm getting really sick of it.

Re: Data Plan
I do use wireless sync and just checked the sync's main screen and believe you can set the parameters of "when to sync" so that it will not try to automatically look to sync every two hours (12 times per day). The other option I noted you may want to try is to go to the System tab under Settings and select Remove Programs. If you see the program Sync Client present, remove it. Let us know how this works out, good luck!

Re: Data Plan
I finally got around to going into the store and talking to someone about this and got my plan changed to the 29.99 one. I was looking online at my available options, and that plan doesn't even show as an option, and when I first signed up, no one ever told me about it then either. I was told I HAD to have the 45.00 plan.
oh well, that's almost 400.00 wasted... |
