Some of you guys chat such rubbish without the correct facts - the Omnia has had cooked ROMs and custom ROMS since at least August last year - how do I know this? Because I got my Omnia in early August last year and have had custom ROMs running on it ever since - check the following website if you dont beleive me as there is a massive following behind custom ROMs - http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-o...e-version-fix/
This should mean that a cooked version will be released for Omnia even if no official released from Samsung comes out ![]() |

Re: will windows mobile 6.5 make it to omnia?
If the Omnia was on some other CDMA networks *cough* it would double the chances of getting a ROM update, and hence, an unlocked GPS.
Its tough when a phone is carrier exclusive, and on top of that Verizon doesn't push for updates often. Not only that, many of the problems the i900 faced were fixed by the time the i910 rolled out, which IMO, slows down ROM releases by Samsung considerably. There is no urgency. |

Re: will windows mobile 6.5 make it to omnia?
I'd say Sprint just for the monthly savings on texting/data plans. I sell em both, not sure what the plans are in your area, but once you start to bundle data/texting Verizon gets way pricy compared to sprint by about $30-40 a month, and in my area the service isn't all that different. And the rom support on the Pros is just amazing. I hated my pro out of the box, but cant imagine switching to any other device untill perhaps the Pre comes out.

Re: will windows mobile 6.5 make it to omnia?
Well, I'm still debating... I started holding out for the Treo Pro as a compromise, but seems like that won't show up anytime soon. I'm not sure I like the size of the Touch Pro. Then again the Omnia has its own issues.
Sprint is a lot cheaper, but work will pick up most of the monthly cost either way. Not sure I trust their network, though. Still, I need to get a phone in the next few days and as long as the Omnia is passable for email/messaging then I'll probably pick it up on a 1-yr contract. |
