Activesync NOT sync'ing my Contacts, Notes, Files, etc.

Greetings from frozen New England! I recenly had to return my Samsung Omnia, as there was a bubble that was forming under the screen (too much heat perhaps...?!). No worries, as Verizon kindly replaced it - free of charge, as it was within the first 30 days - and the service tech even copied over my contacts list. I though it was rather nice... and all was right with the world, after all... Obama was now in office... (sorry, that is dialogue for another blog).

Anyhow, I docked the i910 with the office XP desktop and saw that the Activesync program was doing its thing... or so I thought.

When I checked on the Contacts list... on the phone, it only showed a paltry half dozen or so names and numbers, yet - on the PC - we had over 1,000 awaiting "sharing". A check of the Options listing in the Pocket PC's Activesync Menu selection showed a number of items grayed-out and UNselectable. Ditto on the PC. What is going on here...!?

I've NEVER had this issue before. If we can't keep our Contacts alive and up to date, that won't be good at all!

Please - can someone shed some badly needed light on the matter?? I would greatly appreciate it... and eagerly await your reply.

Thanks.

Re: Activesync NOT sync'ing my Contacts, Notes, Files, etc.

You are probably going to have to delete the contacts off the device and delete the partnership from Activesync. If you use Activesync you should only sync with it and nothing else. When you sync with the Cellebrite machine that they have it creates another synchronization record, and then everything will duplicate, 2 and 3 times, etc.

What is going on is that your computer recognizes your device with Activesync, but also recognizes that it is the same device yet different. The Device ID doesn't match. Because the Device ID doesn't match the partnership you created your contacts are grayed out.

No worries though. just delete the contacts from the device, delete the partnership and start over. Voila, all your contacts are back on the device....

Re: Activesync NOT sync'ing my Contacts, Notes, Files, etc.

I've changed the device's "name" so many times I have to send it to a shrink - 'cause it's now suffering from a multiple personality disorder...!! Hell, after so many changes... I think I'll even book a session for myself!

Seriously, I have made the changes you suggested, in the Omnia i910's Activesync directory. Still after deleting the files and folders from within Activesync, it connects... syncs with the Favorites folder, and does the same with the Tasks, Calendar etc. - all but the Contacts, as it was grayed out and unable to select.

I've even gone so far to do a hard reset of both the My Devise and My Storage... with the same results. And - I've even deleted and removed Activesync from the desktop computer, shut down and rebooted clean. Then reinstalled Activesync - from the Verizon Wireless CD. Still no go. What the #@%^%?!...?

Any (more...) suggestions...?? I'm stumped.

Re: Activesync NOT sync'ing my Contacts, Notes, Files, etc.

Uhh... dont tell me your another person who may have gotten 2 dud omnias tooo! I had a problem with one of them with the internal memory reading as "full" when i barely scratched at what i had, maybe your having an issue similiar to this.

I would say call up verizon and ask them if anyone else has had this problem, if someone else on verizon had this they usually if its solveable can get you through it.
