The information isn't useful to me, and it really crowds the top line of the header (in some cases I can only see the first few letters of the sender's name). I have already reduced the system font size, which helped. But, I am wondering if anyone knows of a way to simply eliminate the column altogether? Registry key addition or change? HTML or CSS template? I'll feel like an idiot if it's just a check box somewhere that I haven't been able to find. Thanks in advance.

I'd love to see a nice, finger-friendly alternative for WM6.1 Outlook (which I use for my Exchange Server with ActiveSync)--something like Vito's SMS-CHAT. But, I've Google'd hard and haven't seen anything like that.

I found a DWORD at HKCU\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INBOX\SETTINGS called ShowDateTime, which is set to 1. As a test, I set it to 0, soft booted, and sure enough the date and time were missing from the Inbox list view. I changed it back (since I need that information), but I decided to try adding DWORDs to that key: ShowFileSize and ShowSize. I tried each one separately with the value set to 0, soft boots in between, with no luck. But, this testing really makes me think there's a registry hack that will accomplish removing the file size column from the Inbox list view.

Any thoughts appreciated. :)

Hello,
Can anyone tell me why the icons go blank? They work but there is no pictures. Not all of them, it appears they are self installed programs?

Which icons?

norm883 06-25-2009 12:09 PM

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Icons that are in the Today Screen etc. I am also using iLauncher and some in there are just generic blanks. I did see the original icons when I loaded the programs Resco Radio, Regedit, Web TV, etc.

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

I'm not familiar with iLauncher, maybe you could search their support site and find your answers there.

When using threaded messaging, it only gives you a small area to see your text between above messages and the keyboard. You can increase this by copying this file to \Windows.

Unzip and copy it, using something like resco.

I decided to try to do this, but ran into an error. Using Windows Explorer, I opened the \Windows directory on my phone and tried to drag the unzipped file into it. However, I got an "access denied" error. I've shut down all tasks, so I don't think the file is in use, but it is a read-only file so that might be the problem. However, I couldn't find a way to make the file on the Omnia not be read-only. Any thoughts on what's going wrong or how to solve it? I also tried to use a copy/paste from my storage card to the \Windows directory but ran into the same problem.

You'll need a different explorer application. Try Total Commander or Resco Explorer (not free).

Ah, that would explain the problem. Thanks. I'll give it a try.

Hey Ad, or anyone who may know the answer, I saw you posted in the middle of this thread a cab called Adryn TaskswitcherKiller. Is that supposed to kill that thing where you slide your finger slowly from the bottom up, and you get that box on the bottom that allows you to end tasks? If so, I noticed by trying and seeing some comments on the download page that it doesnt work on the CC20 ROM. Do you know of any way to get it to work on that ROM? The reason it is so important to me is that with S2U2, while the lock is on, the task manager can still pop up if you accidentally slide your finger up, and you can actually end the S2U2 by pressing End All and it will unlock the phone. I have the X Button program installed, so I dont really need the task manager anyway.....

Strange, it is saying the same thing that someone commented on: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions." I will keep trying though. I vaguely remember getting that message a while ago with another program, and then trying it again and out of the blue it worked. Its the second time I tried this one though, so Im not sure if it will this time, but Ill keep trying regardless.

Edit: I softreset my device, tried it again, and it installed this time! Looks like it worked, as usual you know your stuff my friend lol.

Hi, am I glad I found this site, some excellent reading. Come across a thread on another site;

Is there an app/.cab file that stops the keypad popping up every time you view a message ?

Need RegEditor
hkey current user/control panel/sip...TurnOffAutoDeploy
change it from 0 to 1 then soft reset.

I've tried this, supposed to work...but !!!!!

I used Ce regeditor, found the hkey bit, tried changing the 0, to a 1, just getting a message saying "Acess Denied", ](*,)

Can anyone help ?

Thanks,

FB.

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Try using RESCO (if you don't want to purchase it, the trial time will be more than long enough). I am not sure why CE isn't doing it, but I think RESCO should without issue (then if it works, export the reg setting to a memory file in case you do a herd reset or flash, that way all you do is hit the reg file to make the change instead of having to go theough this every time).

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

one thing with resco, once you install the explorer, you have to download and install the plugin for registry editing.

mzimmer74 07-02-2009 12:46 PM

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Is that an old thing? I just downloaded Resco Explorer two days ago and during the installation process had the option to install various programs, including the registry editor.

Right OK, found Resco Explorer, is it best to run this the same as CE Regedit

does from your Computer ie; download in an Exe File,

or, download the Cab File ?

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

perfectly normal, the editor is the really useful part, but RESCO packages them like that, sorta like self-advertizing!

Thats it. Doesn't even require a reboot. This may also be the answer to those having issues with Samsung Today 2 on their VZW Omnias, too.

OK guys - from the 1st post (since it was untried) does this work on the VZW Omnia?

I have Resco Exploerer and I was wondering if I could get assistance. I'd be happy to donate as well! I followed instructions ( I think?) as above, I got into the registry of the HKEYLOCALMACHINE but when I got to the Samsung Today there was now Samsung Today 2 listed. I probably forgot something!
I a newbie (can ya tell!) In any event, much thanks in advance for any assistance. I'm also wondering if one can get rid of ther Verizon Wireless on the Today screen (it's in red ink) just below the Start screen.

Thanks again for your valuable time. This is an awesome Thread too!

It is easier and faster to use the zip file that is posted in the first post for this. Unzip the file and move the registry entry to your phone. Now, explore to the location you put it and tap on it to import the reg file. :)

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Good morning everyone. Can somebody tell if it's possible to disable some of the screens in SPBMobile Shell? I like to use the Tiles view and there are a few screens I would never use and it would make it easier to find the ones I do use all the time.

I also have one more small question (have you ever heard that before, lol). Somebody called yesterday and it showed me as having one voice message but when I went to Voicemail it says I have no messages (they didn't leave one). How do I get rid of the notification on the screen that says 1 voice message?
Thanks again
Kathy

Sorry I didn't feel like reading through 660+ post for an answer to this:

Is there a way to disable the battery notification? Not the one that sounds when the battery is really low, but the one the sounds at around 40%?

Also when the battery gets to %20 it shuts off the phone radio, is there a way to disable that too?

Does anyone have any idea how to resize the pinpad at startup in landscape mode. The buttons are so much smaller compared to that of portrait mode, yet there is an inordinate amount of white space that my fingers would love to smother. Any ideas? Thank you!

Hopefully I'm in the right forum....Will someone please help me on how to make the battery icon reapper in the top right of the screen in the task bar. Will you please direct me to a post that covers this or personally provide the steps on what to do? Currently all that's showing is the service icon, GPRS (when connected) icon, sound icon, and time. My husband's phone shows all of this plus the battery icon/meter. Please help.

Thanks in advance!

Go to settings
Clock and alarms
In the third tab, un select show clock always (or something like that), I'm on 23037, that option is not needed.
That'll do it.

Is there any way to increase the strength of the vibration when receiving a text message, or perhaps something that would change the pattern? It seems that it's too soft for me to feel in my pocket, and it doesn't last long enough.

Have you even looked at your phone?

Settings>Personal>Vibration>Call Alert

It's a panel where you set the vibration pattern and strength.](*,)

That's for Call Alert. I'm talking about changing the vibration pattern for when I receive a text message. You can't change it within the phones settings.
