re: task killers - "taskpanel" also worth checking out. it has a "wanted list" to intermittently kill apps that keep popping up for some reason (NFL Mobile? I've never even clicked on it, and the widget isn't on my home screen....)

Be careful with Task Killers, I have read issues with them killing necessary services.
Everything I have read says just don't worry about the apps closing or not. Android is just that good at memory management. Even if an app is still running it may not be using any resources. I know this is a mind-blowing concept for us ex-Windows Mobile users but it is true.
