This should help you out:

Backup all your crap first if you think you might screw this up!

1. Download Odin http://fileserv.co.cc/zefie/android/...,%20v4.03).rar (and use version 3.98 out of the 3 in the pkg and put it on your desktop)

1A. Drivers are available here: http://fileserv.co.cc/zefie/android/samsung_moment/ if you need them.

2. Go into download mode (press and hold vol down/camera then extremely quickly thereafter the power button and hold all 3 for like 2 seconds). Doing so on a flat surface will fair much better.

3. Plug usb into phone while in download mode

4. Windows will detect and install all necessary drivers. MAKE SURE the checkmarks are next to all installed drivers!

5. Extract MOMENT.OPS to the desktop from the odin rar pkg.

6. Download the latest stable kernel to the desktop (http://fileserv.co.cc/zefie/android/...t/roms/custom/)

7. Check all three boxes above on the left in odin about the activity window.

8. On the first option on the right select for OPS select the one on the desktop (moment.ops)

9. the last option on the botton for one package, select the kernel from the desktop

10. make sure odin sees your phone

11. press start...the phone will reboot...DONE.

IF you do this in this order, you should be fine. Of course, all disclaimers apply.

This should also help same instructions just a lil different

Boot your phone in Download Mode by pressing Vol. Down + Camera + Power
Open Odin v3.98
Click OPS and select Moment.ops
Check "One Package" checkbox
Click "One Package" button, and select the tar you downloaded
If the phone is detected (yellow box in top left corner), click START

Once you do this you should be rooted!

See if these drivers help you. I had the same problem and used these. Turn your phone on and then plug it into the computer, also make sure USB Debugging is checked and then try to install the drivers. Should work.

Re: ok need help on rooting

do you want temporary root or persistent root?

For Temporary:
Quote:
Step 1.

To get root privileges you need to have the Samsung Drivers for Windows installed, as well as the Android SDK with the Android SDK Tools component installed. If you navigate to your /tools/ folder in your SDK folder at the command line, and type "ADB DEVICES" and see your phone, your golden. Don't proceed till you can.

Step 2.

- Make sure Setting > Applications > Development > "USB debugging" is checked!

- Turn your phone OFF by holding the red end button until the popup appears and selecting 'Power Off'.

- Press and HOLD the CALL, TRACKPAD, and END buttons all at once. Sitting it on a table and using three fingers works well. Continue to hold ALL THREE buttons as the status bar fills, then flashes green. Now you are in "Test Mode"

- Connect your USB cable, and type "ADB SHELL" in a command line window to connect to your phones command line.

- Follow the commands below.

cd /system/bin
cat btld_testmode > ../btld_testmode
cat sh >> btld_testmode
cat sh > btld_testmode

- UNPLUG THE USB CABLE

- PULL THE BATTERY OUT OF THE PHONE.

- Reinsert the battery and quickly press ALL THREE buttons again, as we did before to re-enter Test Mode.

- Plug in USB cable.

- "ADB SHELL" in again.

- Type the following command.

/system/bin/btld_testmode

- You will see the "$" command prompt turn into "#".

You are now root

Re: ok need help on rooting

did you try this:

Download Mode Drivers:
*Do not connect the phone to the system until the directions direct.
Install this program, Samsung PC Studio 3, linked below.
After install, the program will open. Make sure under Settings it is set to Not Auto Load at startup.
For safe measure, you can restart Windows. Turn the phone off. Turn phone on by holding volume down + camera + power on and it will load into Download mode. Connect it to the computer. Windows should automatically recognize the device and start loading the drivers (which were installed previously by Samsung PC Studio).
Note: Samsung PC Studio must be closed and not running in the background, Task Manager can be used end its process.
