Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks
Thanks for your hard work and the info.
I highly recommend that you do NOT use Opera Mini. USE OPERA MOBILE for Windows Smartphone. Currently called "Opera Mobile 10 beta 3". It works way better than the mini. Mobile is designed for Windows SP while Mini is designed for generic phones. I also recommend the keyboard version not the touch phone version because everything is touch based. But with keyboard version, you can use your soft keys and such. Works better that way. Another thing, I wonder if anybody found a fix for the stupid notification issue. I set my phone to flash LED for 20 minutes on new email, new txt, new MMS. but it only flashes few times before stopping. Is there a fix????? Thanks!!!! Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks
Is there a way to keep the phone from chirping when you have the screen locked and it gets tapped? Annoying as anything when it's in my pocket and making sounds from the occasional contact.

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks
Do you have your phone set to click on screen taps? That would be under start -> settings -> sounds and notifications, "screen taps". Other than that, occasionally my phone would chirp a few times in my pocket and I'd take it out only to find it locked and I couldn't replicate the chirp. Never figured it out.

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks
no, I have the screen taps sound unchecked. Experimented just now and it's the status bar along the top of the screen that will chirp if you touch it, even when the phone is locked. Irritating. Putting the phone on vibrate seems to be the only solution.

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks
Odd. Mine doesn't do that. You're using the WM6.5 new lock (slide to unlock) and you're not using any other locks like S2U2, etc? Do you have any taskbar customizations in place? I'm tapping all over my screen with this thing locked and I can't get it to make a sound. Then again I've done a series of sound customizations as outlined in the first page of this thread. Maybe someone else can duplicate it? I know I've heard this once in awhile, but it was very rare (once a month, perhaps). Very frustrating indeed.

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks
Seems as good a place as any to let folks here know that I'm shelving my Intrepid for now; the unfixed issues (and mostly the dreadfully tiny screen) have finally driven me back to the Touch Pro. I am experimenting with some of the recent 6.5.3 touch-friendly builds that people here are working on. Impressive stuff; HTC and (I shudder to admit this) Microsoft have made significant gains with the new builds, and there is a lot of good work going on here to roll those changes into new ROMs. That kind of user community will never exist for the Intrepid and I lack the skills to take things to that level with this device.
With these two devices next to one another, one thing struck me. The two screens are almost exactly the same physical size, maybe 1/8" different. Which means that with a bit of effort, Samsung could have put a VGA screen on the Intrepid. That would have made an amazing difference to me. It has been a pleasure working on this device and I very much appreciate all the help, comments, and ideas from everyone else here, and of course special thanks to the 11 people that thanked post 1 (and the subsequent posts). Hopefully more than 11 people actually found the info useful, considering the amount of time I devoted to making this phone usable. I will continue to maintain a presence here to some extent; I'll help when I can and if anyone finds tips that are useful and you want me to add them to the first page, I will happily do so. Just post here and let me know. Thanks again and good luck with your devices. If Samsung ever does release an update to the Intrepid perhaps they will fix some of the issues we've identified here. |

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks
No, just the standard Intrepid interface like on yours. I've done a few of the sound mods (esp the shrieking in your ear when a text comes in during a call) but not much. Regardless thanks for this thread and good luck with the Treo Pro. I can't stand the keyboard on that, otherwise I might have gone that route myself.
