I personally am starting to reconsider my decision to go with the i760. After using it as my primary device for a week, I'm most likely going to buy to the 6800. It has been a rough decision for me, as the front dialpad really sold the phone for me, but there are some things I can't get over:
1) Unable to charge & sync/tether at the same time. 2) Proprietary connector--no mini usb. 3) Send/End keys are on the slide part of the device, so for 1 handed operation, when you hit the send key, 1/2 the phone moves with it. 4) Flashability of custom roms. Samsung hasn't released flashing utilities like RUU and it does not release updates often for its devices.

So there is no work around in the coding that would allow any custom ROMs? Uggh.....Verizonguy I was really looking forward to you working your magic with this.

my sch-760
just received mine a few days ago. taking some time to get used to it. haven't used pocket pc's in a while. so far so good, but one major minus, only support for 2 gig microsd, (for now) hope to find support for larger memory somewhere online. haven't activated the phone yet, and when I do will have full broadband support included, will post my result with that later.

You guys are totally bumming me out. I was going to test out the i760 tomorrow to see if I should stay with Verizon or not. My company recently switched to AT&T so I have been looking at the Tilt. I was hoping the i760 would be a better alternative to the Tilt and 6800, but if it doesn't work out that way I may have to go with the Tilt over the 6800. There are already a couple custom roms for the tilt by helmi and others on XDA. I was hoping the 760 would give me a reason to stay CDMA and for some reason I am not that pumped for the 6800 which does not seem to be a big improvement over the 6700.

The send/sliding when you hit it bugs me too. But the front dial keys are so much faster to use than the 6700+6800 soon coming, that I don't think I'd go that route just for that single feature.
I'm sure that if enough folks get the 760's, that someone will figure out how to hack it. |
